2.93GHz Octo Mac Pro
32GB RAM
ATI Radeon 4870
4x SSD in RAID 0
2x 30" Cinema Displays

Maxed out XServe with an XServe RAID with a Gigabit connection for all the storage I'll ever need

And pretty much every other Mac made since Steve came back.

Intel C2Q 2.5ghz (maybe i7)
2x1tb HDD
8gb DDR3 ram
Geforce 295 1.8gb
Some bluray drive
24" monitor, not sure about brand. Probably a Dell though.
Wired thin Apple keyboard, Razer mouse.

Nothing extravagant... It's more a realistic dream setup. A daydream setup :p But I don't think I could work (which is mostly pixel art and small screen games) on a screen larger than 24".
I'm planning a similar machine to the above specs and it only costs £900+monitor.

15" 2.93GHz Unibody MacBook Pro
30" iMac 2.93GHz Quad Core with Sleep LED (I miss them)
13" MacBook Air with 10 Hour Battery Life, 256GB HD and 4GB RAM
30" LED Apple Cinema Display x3 (one for each machine)
Apple TV
DLP Projector that they use in the Movie Theatre
12.4 Sound system with Transducers
Airport Extreme
30PPM Color Laser Printer
3TB NAS over Gigabit Ethernet and Wireless N
Whole House Uninterruptible Power Supply
iPhone 4G on Verizon Network
Truly Unlimited Data/Voice Plan
A real PhotoBooth that's compatible with PhotoBooth.app including curtain a red curtain and stool.

MBP12 - something with all bells and whistles of MBP15/17, but in 12" enclosure. But they do not do them anymore.

I actually own my "dream setup": UMBP17 with 256GB SSD and matte screen (rest on defaults: 4GB RAM, 2.6GHz CPU, etc).

It's quiet. It's cool. And it runs off battery (sometimes) more than 7 hours. Shortly: Dream Setup.

I avoid sticking too much stuff into laptops since that generally degrades run time off single charge. E.g. I'd love to have 7200 rpm HDD, yet they are generally heat up much more and drain more power. Same goes to 8GB upgrade: RAM is pretty much only what consumes power during sleeps.

In case of laptops, less is better.

15" MacBook Pro @2.93GHz
4GB RAM, 320GB 7200RPM HD
Apple LED Cinema Display, iWork '09 & Logic Express Installed

Wouldn't mind that at all ;)

Laptop:
15 inch MacBook Pro with 2.93 GHz Core 2 Duo + 512 GB SSD + 8 GB RAM + 1680x1050 screen
Desktop:
4x (combined into one) 8 core neleham xserves with max ram and 3x (per machine) intel x25-e in raid 0

Mac Pro 2.93, 4870 and triple 30's.

Macbook Air, maxed. MBP 17 maxed.

Time capsule 1TB, 24" ACD for laptops above. I would be happy and done with computer purchases, for a little bit at least.

For me, a decked-out 2.93 MP Octo with SAS drives and two 30" Eizo ColorEdge displays. Also add in an AJA Kona3 card, a couple of Sony BVMs, a JL Cooper color control surface, a ProTools HD setup with 5.1 monitoring, several rack-mounted RAID-5 arrays with SAS drives... The list goes on.

Focal Grand Utopia III - before you decide to click on this link, I'll invite you to guess the price of a pair of these

Considering that the original Grand Utopias cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $80k/pair, I'll guess about $90k and some change. Hahaha...

If you're dreaming about speakers that expensive, also take a look at the Magico M5s. $85k/pair, I think. I heard these at CES 2009 (along with a lot of other high-end stuff at the Venetian) and they had no peers. Simply amazing.

as amazing as these speakers sound it is pretty outrageous that they coast this much. my parents gave me B&W speakers for a graduation gift and im not complaining, but there really is no reason for speakers to cost over $50,000. for me the most important component in a audio system is the amp and pre-amp. that is why i bought McIntosh

Regular Use - Can't-upgrade-anymore-due-to-already-having-highest-specs 15" MacBook Pro
Home - Octophallus Mac Pro with 32GB RAM and two 24" LED Displays
Mobility - Pimped out MacBook Air

1 TB Time Capsule with 50 Mb/s Teh Tubes™ connection up/down
Airport Express Stations all over the house to provide uninterrupted service.
Two 2 TB External Hard drives connected to the Time Capsule via USB2.0 Hub to provide Time Machine support for all 3 machines

Anything else?

I'm guessing this is a server farm.

My Ph.D. funding is allowing me to get darn close to my dream setup.

Mac Pro:
2 x 2.93GHz
16GB RAM
RAID Card plus 4x1TB internal drives
2 x 24" Apple LED Displays

I can't wait for it to arrive. If it were my money and was not an issue, I would up the graphics card and memory, and perhaps add in some SSDs.

If money wasnt an issue I'd get a 2.93GHz OCTO Mac Pro + 3x2TB HDDs, 32GB of RAM, intel x25-E SSD drive as the boot. With a ATI 4870 + 2x 120GT cards running 2x24" LED ACD + Samsung XL30 monitor.

Then I'd get a 17" 2.93GHz (matte), 8gb of RAM Macbook Pro to the right side of my desk while on the left side I have a 17" 2.93GHz (glossy), 8gb of RAM Macbook Pro to the left side of the desk. Both loaded with an intel x25-e ssd drives.

Then I'd have a Macbook air 1.8GHz + 256gb ssd model sitting at the top shelve of the desk. :D

I already have the laptop I need, so for a desktop:

2x2.66GHz Mac Pro
3x4GB DDR3 RAM (Maybe add another 3x4GB later on)
4x160GB Intel X25-M in RAID 5 with a Mac Pro RAID card
ATi 4870 GPU

That should be enough for me. That actually isn't really a dream setup either, but I'm a realist. :p
