I doubt it's a performance stage for the musical act at the end of the keynote. How awkward would this statement be at the end of the keynote -- "Ok, everyone, come join us outside for a special performance."

I'm thinking it's probably a demo area for the press.

Exactly it just can't be for a performance. It is most probably 98% surely a demo area

Wasn't there a story on here a month or so ago saying Apple were going to give their store layouts a makeover? Make them more amenable to selling jewelry-type items.

Maybe it's a prototype of the new store layout?

Watch try-on area. NFC checkout using iPhone 6. Bluetooth beacons. All that good stuff.

Drone Footage!

Drone footage is really cool, like with the spaceship campus just brings a whole new dimension to the size than before! Love IT! :)

My money is still on a performance stage for U2 and makes me wonder why Apple went through all this trouble just for them.

If the rumor is true that the new iPhone is going to come with their new album on the phone by default, then I will be very disappointed and not happy.

Money buys cool stuff... FU money buys more...

Sergey/Page to Cook conference call "WE got Barges!!!"
Cook to Sergey/Page conference call " We Don't need no stinking Barges!!"
Apparently neither does Google

Wow. That dude snuck into the fence like iPhone leaks getting out. So much for "doubling down" on security.

My prediction: this is a staging area for demos, but with one major difference: scenes.

Regarding Homekit at WWDC apple mentions "scenes" for Homekit. Their example was you could set up a "scene" such as bedtime. You simply say "hey Siri, it's bedtime" and the actions you've selected (furnace turns down, lights dim, garage door makes sure it is shut, doors lock) are performed.

Though the poster who mentioned the retail store overhauls could be onto something, my apple store has been renovating for month, and with what Burberry did in their NYC store, I see Angela going whole hog in revamping the paradigm on this front.

What? Yeah, I'm saying it does. I was in middle school at that age, and now I'm an engineering student. So I'd say something changed XD
Sorry didn't notice it was you posting that to further make the point rather than to say it sarcastically.
