Um... I read through your thread about you having an emergency because your iPad order was declined by your bank.

After reading this post I can only conclude one of two things,

Either you are trollin, or you have been off you meds for a period of time.

Dude, isn't it obvious? He paid the trucker to kill Kiki so he could have her iPad.

Fortunately he got banned.

I went out yesterday for the first time without my iPad so I thought I would place it somewhere safe. Not sure why as my MacBook Air gets left out.

So I placed it high on top of a box on top of a tall fridge.

Got home and completely forgot about it as I was preparing for a BBQ.

Anyway - as I was prepping in the kitchen - it happened!

Out of the corner of my eye, I turned as my wife yanked the box off the top of the fridge and saw my iPad sailing to the floor with a big whack.

The iPad was in a neoprene safara cover so I couldn't see initially what state it was in.

My wife picked it up and I said "don't even open it - I know it's busted!"

So I slipped off the cover and - incredibly the screen was intact!

Not only that - not a dent on it - switched it on and even more incredibly - it works perfectly!!

Still can't believe it as it came down with such a whack - it must have landed perfectly flat or something - but all I can say is that these ipads are made of stern stuff.

Very very relieved 🙂

Thought I'd just share that terrifying 10 seconds with you guys!

Jon

I've had a few issues too when friends got ahold of it and dropped it. I too have a perfect working (and perfect looking) iPad still. They're tough little buggers.

I don't think there's anywhere safe in my house--

I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old who is just starting to walk and get into everything. I have two cats who like to jump up on stuff and often knock things over in the middle of the night. I have a wife who is a bit on the clutzy side. There is literally almost nowhere I can put my iPad that's safe from everyone except for in my padded backpack and then in my closet with the doors shut.

So far nothing has happened to it yet, but I would have an absolute heart attack if someone destroyed my iPad. My wife is about to have surgery and is going to be home from work for a week and is already bugging me to leave the iPad home with her during that week. (I commute an hour one way on the train to work, so my iPad is with me every day for entertainment.) I am already freaking out about leaving it home and not under my watchful eye.

Warranty

Few weeks ago I was charging my iPad's battery and placed it on my bed, couple of minutes later I forgot about it and stepped on the charger's cable and dropped the iPad on the floor, it landed on the bottom right corner and now it's dented 🙁

I still have the warranty... will Apple fix it if I send it to them?
If warranty doesn't cover that kind of things... will they still fix it and charge me for it? I don't care if I have to pay!

No, the warranty does not cover accidental damage or abuse. Your best bet is to take it into an Apple store if possible. They're really great for helping people out. You should have to pay for the repair but if you go in and tell them what you did, they might give you a break or swap it out for you. I don't have any idea on the cost though if they don't/can't help you out with a replacement or free repair.

On top of boxes, on top of a refrigerator? No drawers around?

Glad it's okay. Don't make this mistake twice I guess is the lesson.

That's NOTHING.

Three days ago my friend Kiki came over my house to visit. As we talked, she decided "Let's go have lunch in the park!" so we agreed. And we prepared little cucumber-and-tomato-and-pesto-and-black-peper sandwiches on toasted bread, pasta salad with veggies and grilled chicken, and freshly made strawberry lemonade with mint!!!

Kiki hopped on my bike, riding behind me, and said "I hope I don't drop my iPad!"

"I'll go slow!" I shouted back (Los Angeles midday traffic is loud).

As I'm leisurely pedaling towards the beautiful Griffith Park, Kiki spotted a bakery along the way. "Oooh stop! I wanna run in there and pick up some black and white cookies for us for dessert!! They are amazing!"

So I smiled and watched as Kiki hopped off the bike, her iPad in her hand, and approached the crosswalk leading to the corner with the bakery.

She turned to me and smiled, and shouted "These cookies are going to-"

A SEMI TRUCK BARRELING DOWN THE STREET at 70-80 MPH struck Kiki like a bolt of lightning... I mean this thing came out of nowhere. All I saw was Kiki's body twisting and bending like I've never seen a body do before, and I heard a "THUD" like concrete blocks hitting the ground.

Kiki died (RIP) but before I went up to her to body to confirm this, I approached her iPad and, miraculously, it was UNTOUCHED! Not a scratch, dent or crack on the baby!! Somebody in the crowd of bystanders shouted "Hey I think that's her iPad!" and I shouted back, as I glared at him menacingly, "She would've wanted me to have it!"

Still cannot believe how tough this thing is.

ROTFL!!!! Epic 😀

ALWAYS put cases on your products... You never know what can happen. Even if you're a careful person, the unexpected is to be expected. (paradox!) I've had my iPad hit concrete from 4 feet above ground, my iPhone slapped out of my hand onto concrete... And everything's 100% find

While Apple sometimes will offer a free, one time only, replacement for accidental damage if you take it into an Apple Store, good heavens don't do it! If all you've got is a dent, don't waste your one shot at a free replacement. Dents are nothing. Sure they make your iPad look a little more worn, but they have absolutely zero effect on the functionality. And if you got your iPad replaced because of this dent, then next week or next month you dropped your new one and shattered the screen, your only recourse would be to pay for the replacement unit...

Let this be a lesson to you, and let this be a lesson TO ALL OF YOU (yeah I know, i'll drop the messianic tone).

Happened to my MBP a while back (not from 6 feet, though) and miracle happened and I swore to myself I'd be more careful. Can't afford to lose everything over a 2 second lapse. And since I also know I cannot rule out for ever the possibility that I won't **** up again, I decided to protect my iPad 2 with a nice, solid Targus case. Yeah it kind of bulks up the device, but it also gives it a 'professional' spin, making it look like one of those high-end agendas. Easier to grab on and hold on to, acts like a stand when I watch videos and protects the **** out of it. Dropped the iPad from 3 feet a month ago, landed right on one of the corners and didn't even get a micro scratch.

Helmet law ****: I ain't smart enough to avoid my stuff from falling, so I'll make sure I minimize the damages when it happens.

edit: I have to stop swearing...apologies

Okay, so I guess I should tell my story. I've had an iPad drop. Mine was from about 2-3 ft up, and it dropped onto a concrete sidewalk, striking right on a corner. Well, despite having been in a myGear folio style case, it shattered the screen, sending spiderweb cracks all through it. Now, what I will say is that the iPad still worked fine. It was incredible. I might have even been okay with it, except that the corner where it hit was only being held together by the screen protector I had on it.

I got a new iPad (thank you Apple Store for the replacement!!!), and I determined that I never want to see a broken iPad screen like that again. Now, my iPad enjoys three layers if protection. The first, and innermost layer, is an Incipio plastic snap cover. I figure that this will help protect it on those vulnerable corners. Next, I have it in the same myGear folio cover. (Ironically, I think it fits better with the Incipio hard cover on under the folio than it ever did in just the folio). Finally, when I'm out and about, I carry the whole kit and caboodle in an STM padded sleeve. When I first set this up, I was worried that it wouldn't seem as convenient, but I really haven't noticed much of any inconvenience stemming from my new case setup. And certainly I have noticed much more peace of mind, knowing the my iPad is so protected...

Glad to hear yours survived. Mine fell less than 2 feet, sustained minor scuffs on 3 corners, a small dent on the top left corner, and a single hairline crack right across the screen from top left to the middle of the right side. Less than 2 feet. No, it was not in a case. Rugged the iPad definitely is not.

I agree it needs a rubber bumber type protector. My screen is crazed with cracks after a drop of a foot. Love my iPad but I wish I'd invested in a better case
