Believe it or not....my ipad has flown off my car seat twice...it clanged around the compartment and landed screen down on the floor (both times).

Not a scratch. Literally like new. I am impressed.

You won't believe this!

I was so excited to get my iPad this evening! As soon as I got home, I went to use the wi-fi in my apartment complex downstairs. As I was waiting for my PC to boot up so I could install iTunes, some guy (a total STRANGER) came over and started asking me questions about it. He grabbed it and said "Can you, like, make calls on it?" He pretended to hold it like a phone and... You guessed it... Dropped it. 6 feet. On concrete. Immediate anxiety attack on my part, I screamed at him for a good ten minutes before retreating to my apartment.

Only damage is a couple tiny scratches on the back! It works fine, no dents, screen is in perfect shape! I'm amazed. I thought I was going to have to break down his door and demand $650. I may do that anyway... Jerk.

Awkward situation. Maybe best just to put some ******* though his letterbox.

Do NOT let people drop your iPad.

Always defend your iPad. Don't let people touch it. If they look at it funny, strike first and ask questions later. It's too bad that someone broke it in for you, raped it.

That's not possible. There was a stress test done by I believe it was pcworld but it showed that a 4ft drop onto carpet caused the LCD screen to break.

Thanks guys, believe me, lesson learned! I won't be kind anymore when people reach for it.

I saw that PCworld stress test while looking up "dropped ipad" last night. I was worried that maybe there was some internal damage done that I wouldn't realize until I installed iTunes and got a chance to play with it. It's working perfectly! I have no clue why the iPad broke during the stress test but not dropping from head-level onto concrete. I think I was just really lucky and it landed flat on the back, not on the screen. I think I'm going to buy a lottery ticket today!

Speck case saved my iPad

...I was in line for a coffee at Starbucks and had just had my card scanned off my iPad...without looking I attempted to drop it into my satchel only to miss the pocket...it bounced off my foot (ouch) but flopped onto the tile floor...if it hadn’t been for the Speck case, I’m sure my screen would have suffered horribly...

I had my desk collapse with Mac Pro, 24'" display, MacBook, iPhone and iPad 3G on it

Everything turned out fine phew! I was under the desk and 1 leg gave way then eventually it ended up on the floor, not really sure how nothing died but first thing I did was check MacBooks display :)

To make a long story short, at the airport after four insane nights in Tahoe and two Sammy Hagar concerts, I set my iPad on top of my large suitcase. It was in the marware leather case thank God. Case is black, suitcase is black. Turned around to grab my suitcase and the iPad took a 3-4 foot fall.

I about crapped. Landed flat on it's back. Works fine, no scratches or dings.

Had it a week. Next stop square trade warranty. Have to wait for a period.

Talk about freaking out. Feeling quite lucky to be typing on it right now. Being hung over and traveling with an iPad might not mix.

On a side note, my brother in law is a big PC guy and spent the last four days using it and will be buying one this week. Loves the size and travel

aspects.

How do u scroll down when you quote a large text...I had to press enter, anyways I also dropped my 2nd iPad...it was on yheedge ofmycouch and I turned around and it hit the floor without a casing. Luckily it was a wood floor and the iPad got no scratches!!!

iPad dropped on TILE!

My little brother dropped our iPad, except I luckily purchased an iPad leather case. on tile, because he was surprised that a dog jumped on the couch (dumb right, so he is clumsy, and my parents still entrust him with a valuable item)
I started freaking out because all over the web it earlier had said once you drop it the screen gets all pixelated!

Phew it works, on it right now :apple:

My mother was asking early in the day yesterday, "What happens if I drop my iPad?". I said, "Depends. Drop it onto a hard surface, it'll probably break."

Lo and behold, ten minutes later, she calls me into the kitchen - with its hard ceramic-tiled flooring - so I wander in still holding my iPad about waist height, snag my sleeve in the door handle, and drop the iPad - naked as the day it was born - face down onto the tile.

"Here's where we find out," I said.

It has a slight ding on the corner where it hit the floor, but is uncracked and undamaged otherwise.

"That's what happens, then," I said.

I still put it back in its case.

I know this is a resurrected thread but…

Hey OP. Sammy Hagar? Seriously? :D

I think you got off lucky

I like to think so, it was the first day I had it too, I have the black Apple case but I hated it so I took it out.
