you can get them along with others all over ebay or iphone repair stores, 29 dollars at apple sound pretty good though.

thats cool you can get it done at Apple, other than that eBay and fit yourself - it looks pretty easy to do.

Or get one of those metal back ones I've seen around here. Looks pretty cool.

The Apple store replaced my phone for free when I shattered my back last week, so it's worth trying, worst case scenario they charge you $29.

I am surprised to get that back replaced it's only $29. That's good, even though I'm protected already, it's a comfort knowing I can always get one so cheap.

yes, I'm positive, and I swear, it is $29 USD to replace the back of your iPhone 4 in store. Take it in, you may get a friendly genius to do it for free. But 29 bucks is fair in my opnion.

It's 199 bucks for an out of warranty replacement if you crack the front. Sorry, it's not the same as the back.

Yeap this is all true, i've had the same thing happened to my back and went into apple store to get a new one for only 29 bucks. I really need to start taking care of my phone though because now i cracked it again, thinking about getting the white one this time.

Why so much mistery instead of just posting a link?

there is no under warranty cost. If you've cracked it, it's no longer covered by warranty.

Generally if it is broken, it is your fault not a manufacturing defect thus it isn't covered by the warranty. If it was somehow covered it would be free, but it's unlikely that the class breaks due to a manufacturing defect.

Thought this was somewhat common knowledge but the reason is that the back piece can be replaced by just taking out the 2 screws, sliding it off, and sliding a new one on. It is the most simple process.

The front is very, very different. Not only is the retina display glued to the front faceplate (which is why if you crack the front you have to replace the screen as well.. $$), you have to take the phone completely apart to replace as well.

Got my phone replaced at the Apple Store

I dropped and cracked my rear glass of my iPhone 4 within 10 days of buying it. I took it to the Apple Store to fix the rear glass as folks in this thread had mentioned that the Store charges $29 to replace it. But when I took it the guy looked at it and said since it is so new, he will replace the phone for free. It surely was very nice of them.

    low-priced back case

replacing the back case for free from Apple Store is certainly great. but $29 to replace it is a little bit expensive. i saw on some china wholesale website that the back glass case for i4 is only sold at about $5. :D

I can verify for a fact that the Apple store does replace the back glass for $29. In regards to the "while you wait" service, if you setup an appointment prior to walking in via the Apple Store app you can actually have it done in about ten minutes or less.

This is a far better alternative than taking it to some third party local retailer. I had a friend do this and the retailer cost him $150...
