STATS REPORT 8-18: afternoon edition
Not much happening on the
spreadsheet, but lots happening elsewhere.
Wednesday 8-18 passed with only ONE order outside the USA getting shipped, and 3 orders (1Holland 2UK) actually SLIPPING.
3 USA Forum members have cancelled their orders and driven down to local Apple retail stores to pick up shiny new stock 2.5's while others remain wringing their wrists in frustration ready to riot if Apple stores actually RE-STOCK before they can receive their own "pre-order" (what IS a pre-order anyway?).
There are 2 stores in Denver, one had a handful come in today that were already spoken for. The "floor guy" there told me Apple is sending out a trickle to as many stores as possible, then shipping to the "pre-order" people, then sending out a second larger shipment to the Apple retail stores again.
The main good news I can pull from this is.....
there are a lot of machines going out. Probably not hundreds, but a "mass simultaneous shipment" to multiple destinations in the USA has kicked into gear since Monday and machines are arriving. Just reading this forum I've learned that
10 US Apple retail stores have received machines in the last 48 hours. The second shipment will be much larger, and the third will probably actually generate a "now shipping" tag on the Dual 2.5 machines on the Apple site.
THE BIG QUESTION NOW in the next 24-36 hours is..... if Apple stores are getting initial handfuls.....are the "pre-orders" (all of us) next before the stores restock? Or will they restock before our orders are taken care of?
Even though I predicted a slip in shipping dates last week, I'm hoping with all the machines now moving, that there are indeed enough chips to fill a massive second wave of machines that need to go out.
The next 36 hours should be anything but boring............
