Just got off phone with apple. My G5 with 1g RAM, BT wireless key board and mouse should ship in 12 to 24 hours. Hang in there, it looks like 8/20 may just be the salvation day for many of us.
Ordered 6/9 on-line apple store - USA

Not only for the US folks. ;)
I just phoned Apple in Germany myself to find out that my machine (stock+BT+9800XT) is currently assembled in Cork/Ireland, so there's hope it'll be here in Munich by the end of next week -yippieeh!!! :D
The sales rep told me I should get a shipping notice by the next few days.

JFYI - I ordered directly at the AS with a corporate discount on 6/15 with an original shipping date by 8/06 which has been postponed to 8/27.

Cheers,
WOA (who's a happy camper now :p )

12-24 hour statement to me as well

I called Apple this morning to try to get a little more info and was transfered to someone else when I pressed for someone to give me more info than was on the order status page.

I was told that my order is in process and that I should expect a notice withing 12-24 hours that my unit has shipped.

We shall see. Good luck to everyone in these next few days.

And what about Belgium reseller shipments??? Just plane NONE!

The waiting gets me on my nerves.. Especially since everyone else start to get shipping notices etc..

I'll give it a couple of days, and this thread mainly exist out of Klaus , the other people from Belgium, and me... The leftovers :(

Ramjet memory

I’ve always had good luck with Ramjet. Got 2x512 and 2x1gig sitting on the shelf waiting to be dropped into the new G5.
Ramjet ships them bubble wrapped, inside a static bag, inside a sturdy box packed in foam kernels. The 1gig mods are in a metal sleeve that acts as a heat sink – pretty cool (pun intended)

I have a feeling some of us that ordered from resellers might be here to keep you company too!

Ge4-ce : my rep at the store said he thinks it won't take much longer (after I told him of a dutch shipment notice), but then again he says, that's what we've been telling all along, and Apple is very itchy about giving more explanations about this matter..

I'm settled for a sept. date, unfortunately, but until then, i'll be here ;)

Yeah.. that's cool.. At the mean while, I'll keep on staring at those 4 gigs of memory on my desk.. I am writing this on my 23" aluminal display, hooked up to my powerbook..

I had to put the powerbook screen all the way down to get the keyboard right in front of me. Otherwise, typing at your right and looking at the screen gives you some sort of pain in your neck.. But the setup is quite funny (picture)

Also, this picture was taken with a Sony Ericsson T610, send via bluetooth right to my Powerbook.. Wouldn't you just LOVE technologie !!!!

wow, ge4-ce nice setup, I didn't know (or forgo) that you had a new 23" alu acd as well. No complaints so far?

Mine has already arrived, but I refuse to use it on my pc, so it's still at the reseller, but I'm scared to death because of the reports of poor color accuracy etc.

partyfart, i checked my tnt order status when my ipod mini was shipped to me.
They were picked up by tnt the 19th of july, and it was at my house the 22th of july.. don't want to get your hopes up, but I have good experience with tnt deliveries.

I was just looking in the tech specs on the Apple site, and I can't find what the power consumption is on a new dual 2.5 - anybody know? - particularly with a 9800XT card, as I need to buy a UPS, and need to get the specs right!

Cheers

I have a Dual 2.5 GHz G5 with 2GB RAM (4x512), 300GB and 250GB internal S-ATA HDDs, and Radeon 9800XT. It, along with my 21" Dell FP2000 LCD display and some miscellaneous USB stuff, is on my APC SmartUPS 1000. This all uses about 42% of the UPS capacity when the Mac is doing normal stuff, and about 60% of the UPS when gaming or otherwise really stressing the machine.

Well, I'm completely satisfied about the display! No dead or stuck pixels at all!, no color issues at all! I even was able to do a colorcalibration with a Lacie-Blue-Eye, Normally it's a hardware calibrator for CRT and a software calibrator for LCD, BUT it's only for Lacie displays! But I gave it a try anyway, and it's just perfect! The color is brilliant and it makes a colorprofile in the colorsettings. It just Works..

Because I do a lot of printwork for all kinds of stuff, I really need the coloraccuracy. My dad was always very very skeptical about LCD, but now after he had seen this, he is all happy about it! (I think he wants one too ;) )

But I don't know offcourse.. Maybe it's a fault in the 9600 XT cards that make the reddish tint that people are complaining about?

I too just received a shipping confirmation from Apple UK.

Mine is a UK Apple Store 15/6 order, added Bluetooth removed Modem.

Shipping TNT Express, but it looks like the parcel hasn't been entered into the system yet.

YES!!!!! Mine is on it's way with TNT. Tommorow its @home. :):):):)
Just recieved shipping information from Apple and TNT. It was already in holland. Think in venray. Perfect. I'll post the specs when its in. Lets all hope it survives the Apple Hardware Test cd ;)

Nice subb, you didn't have to wait long after all did you!, Congrats!

If my G5 eventually gets here, which of these two would people recommend. I've been expecting to buy Crucial, but Ramjet sounds good, cheap, and what's with this RAM heatsink??
Can't say anything about Ramjet, since I've never even heard of them before now, but as for the RAM heatsink, there's IMHO no real benefit from the heatsink. Theoretically it prevents the RAM from overheating, but seriously, when was the last time you heard of a stick of RAM overheating and burning out? Especially when you can't overclock it very easily in a Mac. I have been known to buy heatsinked RAM or install them myself, but only because it looks cool in certain computers with their sides off  . Other than that, not much reason to put a premium on heatsinked RAM.

STATS: 8-19 Morning Edition

Gentlemen (and Ladies) It's CRUNCHTIME!! The calm before the storm is over. This has been a busy and exiting morning listening to reports from "over the pond". Here's the latest spreadsheet

• 3UK and 1 Holland forum members have received ship notices.

• Another UK 6800 order has slipped to Sept.

• 9 non-USA "on or before" Aug 20 orders have yet to let us know what is happening with them. PLEASE UPDATE US.

• The first USA Aug 20 order has received a ship notice.

• So far, no non-6800 orders in the USA have slipped past 8-20 today

• 48 total "on or before" Aug 20 have not updated or remain unchanged (I'm still @ 8-20).

Hoping for lots of news today, its do or die for shipping by tomorrow with 49 orders to go in a little over 24 hours. I'm still thinking my order will slip beyond 8-20, but I'd like to believe otherwise.

Nothing happened here so far. Just keeping my figures crossed I don't get pushed back again!

Will post as soon as anything happens.

You're so right. When playing with the wife i shall be thinking about 'liquid' cooling.....

Btw: i just love Apple. Hope usa and belgium and uk will ship soon!

I am happy to see some UK orders in the hands of the delivery people. But for myself, it seems Apple has dropped the ball. I am stick looking at a September date for a machine that doesnt even contain a 6800DDL graphics card. If I hear of a machine becoming available at a reseller before mine is sitting in front of me, I shall be inconsolable.

Apple - "Ship Differently'.

I'm still at 8/20...God help them if they postpone again!

FYI. I bought under the Apple EPP (corporate discount) and got 2x250GB HDs

So still no 9/03 orders through ADC have shipped, eh?

Have any ADC orders shipped out there? The spreadsheet has very few ADC orders.

Apple - "good things come to those that wait"

Apple - "anticipate delivery"

Apple - "machines outdated by delivery"

Ge4-ce, the color of my 23 Cinema Display is also brilliant, but when I first connected the display to my PowerBook Titanium 867 MHz the Finder windows (especially the brushed aluminium surface) looked a bit pink. So it is not a problem of the 9600 XT.
I created a display color profile on my own (using the system preferences calibration) and now it's almost perfect.

Try the following with your display: Open iTunes and now move the iTunes window to the left and to the right. Watch the white and grey/blue stripes in the title window... On the left side of my display the white and grey/blue stripes are a bit less clearly visible than in the middle or on the right side. Can you confirm that? Nevertheless I can really recommend the new CinemaDisplays.

Ulf
