Dual core or Quad core processor?

You know... I'm just not sure any more. It could be a quad-core A6 chip, it could be a dual-core A5X chip. We know nothing about the GPU in both these chips. We know nothing about the clockspeeds. We know nothing about the architectures.

There are very, accurate rumour sites reporting a dual-core A5X chip. There are also very, accurate rumour sites reporting a quad-core A6 chip.

I think the whole A5X dual core thing is a last minute leak by apple to throw people off and create a more surprised response when announced.

I know accurate rumors sites were wrong about the iPhone 4S case design, but this is different.

Thankfully we don't have too much longer to wait.

It is twice as fast as the old cpu and 4 times more graphics power. Not overwhelming but enough to do the job nicely.

The CPU isn't twice as fast, it's the GPU that's twice as fast as the Tegra 3. They also claim it's four times as powerful, which is confusing.

No they said the A5 was twice as powerfull as the tegra 3 and the A5x was 4 times as powerfull. yea those terms are pretty vague.

Many Android manufacturers are touting Quad-Core but how many apps are there that take full advantage, hardly any. Meanwhile games like Real Racing HD look like a dream on the iPad 2.

I'm not too fussed about whether the new iPad has quad or dual core as long as the processing power has been bumped up.

Well said, Homeboy. It's not the specs, but the experience when browsing the web, playing games, or streaming video that counts. If it feels faster, I don't care what's under the hood.

They're talking only about graphics, the A5 is only a dual-core Cortex A9 whereas the Tegra 3 is a four plus one quad-core Cortex A9 w/ a low power core.
