I've heard good things about the 30" Samsung LCDs.

They also have a 1000:1 contrast ratio, but their response time is 6ms, instead of Dell's 8 and Apple's number which I forget but is a bit higher than Dell's.

And IIRC, they cost about the same as the Dells.

Also, ResQ Shop, your desk setup is quite amazing. How did you build that yourself?

shadap jpmitttins :p

im actually considering the dell a lot more now, i already have a 2407wfp, might get a 30" and a 24" to put the 24s in vertical mode - i want 3 30"s but i just can't justify getting them! im pretty sure i will be totally engulfed by the monitors if i do that too.. thanks!

This thread has me excited and stumped. I just picked up a 2408WFP and would like to add 2 monitors to either side (much like the OPs post with the 30" Dell and the 2 20" Dell in portrait mode). Looking at the Dell site however I can't seem to figure out which monitors to get so everything lines up. Help! Thanks. :)

If you can't get specs from the manufacturer Google your monitor and 'dot pitch'. This is the effective size of each pixel. Then pick another monitor with a dot pitch close to it. Generally speaking a 17" non-wide monitor has a dot pitch close to that of a 24".

I don't know if any will line up perfectly, but just look at the actual physical dimensions on the specs pages of the smaller displays.
