I'm actually starting to think this would make a lot of sense - if these are real I wouldn't be surprised one bit.

This looks like a nice phone. As long as the CPU and Camera are the same as the Xs's, stretching $300 more for the Xs Plus starts to become hard to justify just for zooming ability and maybe 3d touch (and battery gobbling OLED).

I was set on the Xs Plus, but for $300 less...will depend if the camera and CPU are the same.

I like em! But the naming scheme is all kinds of messy right now. I like the idea of a year for the name

2018 iPhone
2018 iPhone Pro
2018 iPhone Pro Plus

To me, ‘Pro’ is possibly the most unfitting name for an iPhone, just because it’s primarily a communication device first.

That definitely feels more Appley. Just make the date silent.

I don’t get why the entry level phone would be the middle sized phone. I would think that entry level buyers would want the smaller phone.

If you want the best camera you’ll have to buy one of the flagship phones. Also, if you want 4GB RAM. Most consider OLED an upgrade to LCD, a few do not. Many don’t seem to care about 3D Touch but it’s rumored to be missing from the less expensive phone.

The A12, FaceID, smaller bezels and a larger display make the 6.1” LCD a nice alternative to the more expensive models. 3GB is definitely an upgrade for those coming from iPhone 6/6s/7/8.

In Apple parlance, Pro doesn't necessarily equate to some specific "professional use case", it's just their top-of-the-line model in a product line ... not to mention, the vast majority of my phone communication is a professional capacity ;)

I'd say size doesn't really correlate to price point, and maybe there's enough data to show there's more favor for larger-ish sized devices (in general), so a single low price model should favor that FF[?] You know if there's only one option, hedge your consumer bet :)

These might be prototypes but no way are they the final product. The red one doesn’t even look like aluminum it looks plastic. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re case maker dummies or Chinese knockoffs.

I already have my "C"- my product Red iPhone 8+ with a "bigger" screen with zoom view and will NOT go to a home buttonless swiping gesture based UI until I have to in at least a year or two!

I don't see the point - every time someone (myself included) complains about the hideous camera bumps on all the new phones, the standard reply is "It doesn't matter, you'll have to put it in a case anyway!" and then those same people get excited about these colours you'll never see thanks to said case...

I think entry level buyers will be happy to get a larger display than the more expensive model. But according to rumors, what they won’t be getting is OLED, 3D Touch, dual rear-facing cameras, 4GB RAM and a 512GB storage option. Those features are reserved for the flagship models.

Next year when the new OLED models again drop in price, I think we’ll see that the 6.1” LCD model does not get updated, but continues selling unchanged for another year (with probably a small price cut). Then in 2020 all the new $700+ models will be OLED, and only two new models per year instead of three.

CPU likely, camera unlikely. In my opinion.

Requiem to my preferred form-factor for one-hand use: the iPhone SE. Death by silence. Death by thousand cuts.

Second that.
Note that the edges of body and lens have their color shockingly different, and mismatched, to the color of the glass back.
That says fake!

Besides the LCD and single camera, I wonder how else this model will be gimped compared to the XS and XS plus.

While cleaner, There are a couple problems with naming it that way...
First is 2018 is more than half over, so will be dated name in a few months. They could do like car manufactures and name them a year later...
Second is that Apple tends to sell iPhones for more than a year at reduced prices. iPhone 7 still sounds cool, but would the average person still be as eager to buy it if it was called the iPhone 2016?
