Hello,

Im due to be getting a new mac, an id like to keep the system preferences, program settings, all the same on the new mac,
almost so their duplicated, and i can go to either mac, and they will both be identical,

will migration assistant only transfer ? or is thier a way to keep settings on both devices the same,

many thanks in advance,

Stuart

I believe that the you can also migrate your settings using the Migration Assistant.

If you want a complete clone of your drive, you could always use a program like CCC.

that's brilliant thank you, no not a complete clone, just the general system preferences and things, thankyou

OP --

What you want to do is... well, it's a fool's errand.
Trying to keep "everything exactly the same" on two Macs can be an exercise in frustration.

My solution:
Just let each Mac "be its own Mac", so to speak.
Things won't "be the same", but you can still keep them "modestly close".

And you'll grow comfortable with that quickly.

Best way to "get things migrated" to a new Mac is to follow the instructions I posted here:

Do it this way, and you won't go wrong.
