I never said you're trying to scam anyone out of anything. In fact, I believe you're seeing what you're seeing (as seen in the quote below), but you're expecting demanding too much from Apple. They are only obligated to fix what they apparently did to your phone.

...
Now methinks thou doth protestest too much in regard to not wanting a new phone for 'absolutely no reason.'

One person in this entire thread made a logical reply. The rest of you have your asses so far up a company's ass that it's disturbing the way you make up scenarios and try to defend them as if they're your own. Get a hobby. I love apple but you people are something else. Feel free to report this to the internet police. these responses are utterly pathetic.

It's hilarious how people get absolutely feral here when you have a legitimate issue. They are far too anxious to move blame from Apple to you.

You should get a replacement. If it was there before or after your battery replacement, it doesn't matter - dust under the screen isn't acceptable by any means.

Im not going to read the entire thread but here is certainly what happened. The guy has a workbench in back with several batteries and screens laid out as they replace these often. He removed your screen , placed it next to the other screens, replaced the battery and then grabbed a different screen with dust in between the 2 factory laminated parts.

FYI did you have a screen protector on and get the same one back exactly like it was? If thats the case then it may be a different story.

Sorry to hear about that! I know some genius are horrible to deal with whether or not they need to "follow their policy". In fact, it depends on the person or their mood, or perhaps maybe there is a quota everyday. Not every genius know what they are doing when it comes to repair.

I'd recommend you to try a different store and explain your situation nicely ;)

Good luck!

Yes. Or maybe he tore a cable replacing the battery. Or maybe his or a buddy's phone screen had a defect and he intentionally swapped screens with another phone. Either way, it came back with a flaw and needs fixed.

OT: When I broke the screen on my iPhone 5 I had the choice of a new screen or a replacement phone. It sounds like that's not an option for a battery replacement?

How is everything?

Let me know

Went in this morning explained that the dust under my screen wasnt there before I had my battery replaced. He acknowledged the fact that it was an issue and took it to the back. Finally comes back and tells me they're replacing the screen and it would be about 30 minutes. I said great, thanked him and waited patiently. 45 minutes later returns with a mint screen no dust not a scratch. I thanked him again and as i'm walking out of the store I click the home button to check the time and it doesn't work. Sleep/wake button worked and not the home button. Tried it repeatedly before i walked back in there and still didnt work. So then I got frustrated went back inside gave them my phone back and the guy tells me they'll "look at it" again. So after 15 minutes i explain to this guy that i can't wait another 30 minutes for them to dissect my phone and find the mistake they made when putting it back together and the fact that this was the third time in a week that they had to tamper with it was irritating.

Kept my cool until he told me "IT HAPPENS."

so i asked if it was possible for dust to get under the screen and he responds with "WELL OFCOURSE. dust gets into screens all the time people buy a phone and return it 4 days later for dust" (go argue with the geniuses alphadog)

at this point i got frustrated that i was still sitting there waiting for them to figure out where they wrong and i made that clear. the dude that told me "it happens" walked away from me to help another customer and said they're working as quickly as they can. Finally the chick who checked me in approaches me and said "i'm handling the paperwork to replace your phone it will only be a few minutes sorry about this".

moral of the story there was in fact DUST under my screen after a battery replacement regardless of what some negative nancys have to say

----------

and although the end result is good, ive never seen any employee at an apple store be so careless and ignorant when dealing with a customer. The fact that "hey let me hit the home button and make sure everything is working properly before giving it back" didn't cross their minds is just careless

Yep, you have all the 40-60 year old parents to blame.

Bro, the fish you're smelling definitely isnt coming from me so you might wanna look into that. If I wanted a new phone I'd pay 49 measly dollars for a replacement. I'm normally not one to talk MONEY arrogantly but the last thing on my mind is "how to get a free replacement iPhone" from an annoyingly busy apple store or any other store for that matter lol. I don't know what type of people you hang out with but that's not me. I can buy you and the rest of your family shiny new 64GB 5s's if I had the desire to, so please get lost with your false accusations. Idiot.[/QUOTE]

Oh dam don't I feel stupid now I'm kind of gutted I said anything I didn't realise you had so much expendable cash. Did it make your little pecker 3" longer bragging about how much money you have?? If you have all this cash why haven't you bought a 5s instead of trying to get a FREE phone?? I know why because your talking crap that's why

Wow! Good to hear that you GOT a phone replacement!

Now, I want to get my battery replacement soon!

Lol You brought it up Not me. I see no reason to upgrade otherwise I would little buddy. 5 does everything I want it to for now. But You should try spending less time concentrating on my dick and my finances and more time figuring out how to expand yours

Have you read the terms of the AppleCare agreement?

"Apple reserves the right to change the method by which Apple may provide repair or replacement service to you, and your Covered iPhone’s eligibility to receive a particular method of service."

http://www.apple.com/legal/sales-support/applecare/docs/applecareplus.pdf

Don't try and break out terms and agreements unless you are a lawyer or in law school. You are referencing the Applecareplus agreement. OP brought his iPhone in for a battery, which would likely fall under the standard warranty (1 year). OP has not provided information as to when he purchased his phone so we can't judge if it is still covered. Furthermore, he never said he had applecareplus, so I have no clue why you are applying that agreement.
