Does look odd, but I was expecting "ruin" to mean breaking, falling off, not functioning as insulators, etc.

Got them clicks though!
 
Yeah, blue jeans are notorious for "leaking" blue dye. I have to clean the light-colored leather seats in my car every year or so because of blue-jeans stains. The seats clean up nicely with leather cleaner, though.

I use a case on my iPhone anyway for 2 reasons: protects the phone from scratches and provides better grip to make dropping the phone less likely.

::: sigh ::: Such is life. I like my blue jeans, so I put up with life's minor annoyances. And I like my car seats, and my iPhone ...

Very misleading thread. The dye is not ruining the plastic strips. It's discoloring, but not ruining. Ruin means "physical destruction or disintegration", neither of which is happening. :rolleyes: The author of the article needs to go back to journalism school, or perhaps should actually go to journalism school.
 
I feel for you. Jeans have also ruined my sneakers in the past. I remember buying a fresh pair of Clyde Frazier Puma's, and on Day 1, there was a torrential downpour. Was never able to get the dye off the suede.
 
It's certainly possible, I often pull out receipts from my pocket and they have some blue on them. Jeans have gone through multiple washes too. Definitely not a fan of this iPhone's design and build quality.

BGR has spoken with several iPhone 6 owners over the past couple of weeks who have encountered a very annoying issue with Apple’s new iPhones. The issue involves pockets on men’s jeans, but this time it’s not a matter of Apple’s gigantic iPhone phablet fitting into pockets. In fact, these particular iPhone users might wish their smartphones didn’t fit in their pockets.

Some iPhone owners who don’t cover their phones with a protective case are finding that after sliding an iPhone in and out of the pockets on their jeans for a period of time, some of the dye from the denim is rubbing off onto the plastic strips on the back of the phone.

The result is an unsightly discoloration that makes the iPhone look dirty and old. Conventional soaps and other cleaning products one might use in an effort to remove the darkening on the plastic strips apparently have not worked. One BGR reader jokingly referred to the problem as “Dyegate.”

Anyone experiencing this? I know the Gold phones have white bands, I dont remember if Silver had white bands.

I know Grey/Black have grey bands, so I assume they will be unaffected.

See is the discolored bands on the attached photo.

I had the Gold 6 Plus, but it was in the case at all times. I'm glad I made the switch to Space Gray. Well either way it looks like no matter what color you get it will discolor overtime. Just stick a case.

This helps a little at first for new jeans, but the dye continues to leach (see my post above) for a l-o-n-g time, even with old jeans.

REAL men don't complain about their jeans. Just wear 'em, put up with the staining and shut up. :D

What brands of jeans do this?

I need to stay away from them. I'd be livid if a clothing manufacturer's dye didn't stay put after the first washing.

I'm no fabric expert, but I suspect that any cotton blue jeans would have this problem. Denim is really heavy-duty stuff, and the cotton absorbs a lot of old-fashioned water-soluble dye. Unless the blue jeans are faded to almost white, that dye will leach out.

Don't even talk to me about synthetic-fabric jeans. That would be unthinkable!
 
This is pretty common for Ive's designs. The diamond cut chamfer on the iPhone 5 looks great new, but ugly after a few months of use.

Ive designs for the pedestal, not the real world.
