e13ctron aluminum case Full Review

electron prob copied their design but made it metal. speck is also two piece but snaps on. speck looks cheaper but feels good.
I'm pretty sure that e13ctron didn't "copy" or use that Speck Fitted case as their basis for design. That Speck case also has a solid back. There are many "sandwich" style cases (cases that have a "front" and a "back" that snap/clip together) on the market. It's a common way of making a case. Look at Contour Designs HardCase as another. There are plenty like that. I doubt the Speck model was the "inspiration" for the e13ctron.
You have to admit, the front looks identical. I mean real close!

Many cases are going to look similar from the front when installed. Here's just a quick picture of a few of the cases on my desk right now...
When installed on the phone, every single one of these cases looks darn near identical, even down to the buttons covering the sleep/awake and volume buttons. Yet all but 2 of them are from totally different companies. Should I say they all copied each other?

No none of those look like the electron and speck. Electron copied speck its too obvious but whatever. I dont care I am just noticing it.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying that any of the pictured cases look like the Fitted or e13ctron, I'm saying that all the pictured cases look identical to each other when installed, yet are all from different manufacturers. Doesn't mean they all "copied" each other. There's only a handful of ways out there to make a case, so looking similar is bound to happen (again, look at the picture). Another example is the "slider" style case. There are numerous slider cases out there, but it doesn't mean they all copied each other. I very seriously doubt e13ctron would model their case after such a lackluster case as the Fitted. I'd at least pick a more popular style.

lol are you serious? You can't see the similarities in the Speck vs e13ctron compared to a case that is just designed to fit the iPhone and nothing else? this is too funny. Your rampant fanboyism is hilarious.
I can see the similarities in those two cases, as well as oh...say the other 10 or so on the market that look just like them from the front. As well as the similarities between the cases I've photographed up above. As well as the similarities in all of the slider style cases on the market. As well as all of the bumper style cases. Oh yeah...not to mention the remarkable similarities of the Atomic products to the Element Vapor. There are similarities everywhere in the case market. I never disputed that. What i am saying is that I seriously doubt that an obscure case like the Fitted from Speck was the inspiration for the e13ctron. Most people don't even know about the fitted, and those that do know that it's not a durable case. If you were going to "copy" a Speck case, at least pick one of the more popular (and better selling) styles. Why copy a case that no one knows (which proves it's not a popular design), and the few people that know about it also know that the fabric covering the back (on the Speck Fitted) typically comes off/starts to unravel in a short period of time?
I love the e13 case and I have never seen that other case before now, but those cases look IDENTICAL. There is no question that is where there design came from. The funny thing is, people bashed Atomic for doing the same thing, yet nobody is saying anything about this. Kind of odd. It makes no difference to me no matter what. I love the e13 case but you can't deny that this is where their design came from, they are identical and no other case looks like these two do. So maybe before people bash on Atomic for copying Element's design, they should think twice because e13 did the exact same thing. It doesn't matter what they say, the proof is in the pictures and the other case was out WAY before the e13 was released. And no I am not sticking up for Atomic, I am just making a general statement.
All of us can speculate as much as we want on the origins for the design of the e13ctron case but at the end of the day the only people who really know where the design came from (whether it was ripped off or not) are the company people.
And regardless of which design came first, the e13ctron is a quality product and all that matters is what each of us individually like.

Yep, I don't care either way as well. I love the S4 case and e13ctron/Jacob has been great for everything I have needed. This is the only aluminum case I would use.

Email them again. Sometimes it takes emailing every day and nagging them to get the information you want.

Really? Because the first time I've seen the E13ctron case I never thought it looked like a case I've seen before. It's quite it's own design really.
Listen, I think e13 is a great company. They make great cases (priced kinda high though) that fit excellent and they have great customer service. But if you honestly sit there and say that those two cases do not look exactly alike, then you need glasses. You have been on the e13 band wagon since day 1 but the e13 design is far from unique. The other case was out for months and months before the e13 ever came onto the scene. Every single part of the e13 case is exactly like the other one, just like the Atomic is exactly like the Element. Its very very obvious and its no big deal but people shouldn't come on here and say they can't see the similarities because its painfully obvious. On that note, I will not hesitate to order a e13 when the Verizon version comes out which is hopefully soon.
What about the fact that the Speck pictured has a closed back? That's nothing like the e13 case, but you say that 'every single part" of the case is exactly the same.
You and I both know why they don't have an aluminum back on the case. Every case that has ever used one has got terrible reviews and has failed. Maybe they tried and seen what it did to reception and did away with it, who knows. But the rest of the case is identical, even the top where it has the little hump is the same. Like I said, I don't care who they copied, but they copied that case. It's as clear as it can get unless they just happened to of created a case that has the exact same cutouts, dimensions and style, which I highly highly doubt. And yes I had both cases and they were identical in every way except the back. I just didn't want to start a big argument so I never said anything. But all you have to do is look at the pictures. Ok, I am done. Argue and say it doesn't look the same or whatever. I am out of this thread because I have nothing against e13 and don't want to mess up their thread.
I would not go and say they are exactly the same. Do they look similar? Yes, but the bottom, top and sides have been cut ever so slightly different, with the side beveled, the bottom cut rather then rounded and the top elongation larger.
As for my taste, I will take the e13ctron S4. I like how the edges look rather the then Speck. Yes, they are slightly different and yes, I like the difference.
Until you hold one, well ......., it's a e13tron S4 thing I guess.
