I am very happy.

I haven't yet realized any difference in battery life or speed, pretty much the same which is fine.

Spotlight is very useful for me, especially in email
Copy/Paste works well
Bluetooth and USB tethering on Rogers is awesome (MacBook Air rules even more now)
MMS is nice, but I have never used it in the past, who knows if I will in the future
No more auto-correct swear words. I like this.
Landscape keyboard is meh
Voicememos I doubt I'll ever use

I'm a happy guy. I don't really miss the added 3G S features, especially for the price.

I find it a great update. I am more excited for the API's it will bring to developers. I hope to see even a greater improvement in gaming.

3.0

Disappointed that conference calling (when you dial an 800 number and then need to dial a pass code) was not added to the phone app. I even tried to copy/paste the pass code into the keypad, but there's no paste there.

Overall I think this is a worthy upgrade. Several key features are for people who've been wanting them since iPhone 2G (original) came out (the phone I have).

Cut/copy/paste is very handy.

Notes syncing - I use notes all the time for various lists of items, prices, and things to buy or that I need at the store.

Ability to send multiple pictures on email - this is very welcome, especially for my Real Estate Agent wifie.

Ability to download music videos is a real plus. Always had to run back to iTunes to do that before.

Bluetooth stereo support - been wanting that since day 1 as well.

I'm going to finally upgrade my original to the new 3GS and skip over the 3G that so many of you are "stuck" with. Oh well, you'll skip over me next year with the 4GST or whatever the next one is called...

;-)

I was wrong before about Spotlight Search.

It IS searching in my calendar in both the event name AND the location.

I really like the update so far. I am having a few apps crash on me. I assume that it is because those apps have not been updated for 3.0 yet. Nothing that I really need though.

Are there any of the messenger type apps that are using push yet? I have checked Yahoo! and Skype but neither of them seem to be using it yet.

I have a feeling a lot of you are infact teenagers with iphones. There is a lot of one dimensional thinking in this thread.

The update was never intended to revolutionize your phone. The exciting thing about this update is what path it lays ahead for the iphone, especially with developers being able to use the port at the bottom for their own hardware. The possibilities are endless.

This update has turned the iphone into a general computing device. I suspect that in a few years there will be many people using iphones who have never made a phone call on them.

I am liking it so far, though, I have only had it for an hour.

Love the landscape KB and copy and paste.

Dont care about notes sync since I use Google Notes with the 3rd party GNotes app. (This option is awesome because I can share a notebook with my wife, and we can both update it on the go with the Gnotes)

But yea, so far, it seems pretty cool.

My 3G seems snappier, I'm enjoying typing landscape, copy and paste will come in handy.

I'm most concerned about battery life. My first 3G had to be returned because the battery would randomly heat up and drain within 3-5 hours. My replacement does the same thing which leads me to believe it was a software issue with OS 2.2.1.

Here's hoping 3.0 is better, that's pretty much my primary concern.

Oh, I'd also be happy if the Voice Memo app let you record phone conversations.

Worthwhile for me and my phone hasn't been slow

Changes in the messaging app & Tethering support plus not being the trainwreck that was 2.0 make it a winner for me

Def lags on the 2g. That and my battery was draining in 5 hours, even when the phone was asleep if apps were installed. Now I have no apps and it is working fine. Weird. I wonder which app is doing it?

I like it. I think people are just dissapointed because they are used to Apple "WOW"ing and there isn't much of that. Just some features we really should of already had. I don't know but I'm excited to see better Apps in the App store.

My phone is essentially as stable as it was before - generally quite stable - but I do appreciate copy and paste. However, IMAP IDLE is not in this update which I never expected it to be. That still is very disappointing. Quite a few people here seem to get confused between "Push" and IMAP IDLE. They are quite different. Hell's Bells my Sony K790a supported that and that is almost a vintage phone these days.

I love the new keyboard. I love the delete part of a text, the forward. The cut/paste. I am happy!!

You always hear about "snappier" performance that is usually hard to believe. However, I have noticed a MASSIVE improvement in the search feature.

I have about 3,000 contacts. Usually, when I start typing in a name to search, there is a 2 second lag after choosing the first character and before the 2nd. The lag after the 2nd character was less, I am assuming as the search criteria diminishes. By the 3rd character or so, there was no lag. This was reproducible and persistent without fail ever since I've had my 3g. I learned to accept it.

With 3.0, that lag has completely vanished! My contact search and the Spotlight search have been instantaneous, smooth and flawless (so far). This alone makes 3.0 a fantastic improvement.

For me its less stable. Randomly Safari seems to crash and my other apps open when this happens. This never happened on 2.2.

From what I've seen so far, I'm glad I've not pre-ordered a 3Gs.

Not impressed with this update at all.

This is me ^

Everything is awesome. Love that you can open a link in a new window now by just holding down on the link

This was the one update I was really looking forward to, but Safari last night was dog slow, crashy and now won't work at all. ****ssake, I miss jailbroken 2.2.1 so much. It did everything 3.0 does only it actually worked and was faster (I was careful with what jailbreak apps I installed). My phone's slower in just about everyway now

Waiting for the jailbreak. Hopefully wiping it and starting again will help, but really it looks like I'm going to have to wait for 3.1 before my phone has a chance of getting back to normal. I really wish I could downgrade

Frustrated by 3.0

So it was advertised as faster and all? I like the new features (copy/paste, spotlight, etc) BUT my apps take longet to upload than before, itunes skips while listening to track (never did that before). Hopefully my phone is just getting use to it????? Hope so.....

I'm finding that battery life is better, but the overall responsiveness of the UI is a lot slower. Disappointed by that. Maybe I should try a clean install?
