You aren't being very talkative today!

I give up. You need a lesson in creative writing...

I painstakingly recreated them last week from the blinkenlights star wars, I don't know how to make them display correctly here.

EDIT: it won't work here. but here's a txt file that needs only to be changed to monospace

Press and hold down apple+option+control+8

It will invert your screen and stay there, even during bootup. Just press the following buttons together to reset it back.

Is it just me or does itunes look better inverted? :D

Invert screen is a lifesaver for when I forget my glasses...
It's also a nice feature to demo, especially in comparison with windows's (ie: change theme, original windows, use dark with high contrast.. yuk).

Inverting the screen is one of my favorite jokes to play on other mac users. They always think that I did something to their monitor but when adjusting it doesn't do anything they restart their computer. When the restart doesn't fix it is when the real fun starts. :)

A fun joke to play is going into Illustrator preferences and changing the 'Constrain Angle' in the General preferences from 0º to 0.2º that's always worth a few larfs.

Or bring up Merlin in Photoshop and drag it so that it's almost off the screen and watch as they wonder WTF is going on.

Log in to OS X, and open Terminal. (/Applications/Utilities)
If a session is not open already, open one, and type "bill gates" (caps don't matter), and hit Enter or Return.
You will receive a rather humorous response...
"OK? kill gates?"
For some reason if you type "bill" and then any word it also works (not just with "gates")
You can find this other places too, but I was surprised to not find it on here...It's pretty minor, but it HAD to be intentional...I love Apple's sense of humor!

I can't get this one to work. :(

That's a spell checker at work there. Since there is no "bill" command it assumes that you wanted to "kill" gates.

It gets better...

You can also try 'yow' in place of doctor while in emacs to get quotes from "zippy the pinhead"

But the fun really starts when you do 'psychoanalyze-pinhead' to hear a transcript of conversation between the "doctor" and zippy.

Press Ctrl-x to stop the madness.
Esc-< will take you to the top of the file
Ctrl-x Ctrl-s will let you save the file
Ctrl-x Ctrl-c will quit emacs

BTW, this has been a "feature" of emacs for quite some time. Also covered here http://forums.osxfaq.com/viewtopic.php?t=3388 and darn near a duplicate of this thread appeared on macrumors back in '03 (google "emacs zippy the pinhead")...

OK, I got the doctor working...

After typing emacs and pressing return, you must hold the escape key and then press x (while still holding esc).

I don't know if it's the same in Tiger, but in Panther it's pretty unintentionally funny...

no you have to just press escape, and then let go, and press x. But if the x is in the upper part of the window, and not the lower part at the bottom, it won't work. You have to make sure you type the x in the little area at the bottom, and then doctor right after it, so it'll look like xdoctor.

You have to do it really fast. Like press Esc, and a half a second later, press x. Then the x will be in the right place.

Oh cool! Never knew that. So what's this about pong? :D

Ya sorry Im slow. Where do we get this pong action?

BTW I think Im going to be running OS X with my screen inverted alot more. It is SO much easier on my eyes now rather than looking at black on white which is like staring at a lightbulb.

Also any idea of command + option + control + 1-7, 9 does anything? Im alittle scared to try due to fear of messing up my Mac.

Ok I am playing with the Doctor and at the bottom of the window noticed some thing that made me burst out can you find it??
