My Guide to Sell on eBay

Damn. Mine has been on eBay for 4 days now and not even a bite. Mint condition black 16 gb Verizon not a scratch on her. Have the bid starting at $200. Is this too steep?

I have sold over 90 cell phones on eBay, you aren't sellling your phone because you are listing it wrong. I got $475 for my 16GB black.

1. Make you bid $0.99 with no reserve

2. 24hour auction so you iPhone is on the first 9 pages not page 742

3. Add a buy it now along with the auction for a bit more than your willing to sell (I did $500)

4. Use a good photo atleast 2 unless you have sold lots of electronics and have the feedback to back it up

5. Use Fedex or UPS. Never use USPS they lose packages and are out of the world expensive. I like Fedex home delivery.

6. Give free shipping, absorb the costs in your price. Offer shipping like this,

Fedex Home Delivery - Free -
Fedex Express Saver - $10
Fedex 2nd Day Air - $25
Fedex Standard Overnight - $40 or $35 depending on packaging.

7. Make sure to mention the warranty especially if you have/had Apple Care.

8. List any cases that come with it and say; ex. Free Otterbox Defender Case $50 dollar value mint condition.

9. Either don't accept international buyers or accept them. Just make sure to get international buyers to understand that you won't guarantee the iPhone and that international buyers will have to pay extra shipping costs.

10. Always say you ship out in one day. Even if you can't, because you could always print out the shipping label then drop it off on a future date. Just don't take 3 days if they paid for overnight.

Thanks for the tips man. But .99 with no reserve? That's seems kinda risky no?

Damn seems like I can't add a bin one a bid has been placed. I got my reserve but hope I get more than that. Any tips?

You're so mean...j/k ;-) I sold mine to a relative who had her cell phone stolen and was using a phone with a cracked screen in the interim.
$150 for mint condition 16gb black with box and everything. I paid $15 to ship it to her so I netted $135.

Haha, yes... My mother was very generous paying that!

It was in perfect condition with box etc, she seems to be happy with it and they are selling for about that on ebay here in the UK.

You let your one go cheap then!

I started doing this and never once have I gotten less than I felt what the item was worth, and usually I get more. Just make sure your listing is clean with good photos and in the proper category etc.

I would have liked to do this but I already hit my reserve. But I still don't think 200 is enough for that phone

I know it seems risky but it always works. I usually just watch the phone closely, but trust me by 8pm tonight you will have at-least 10 watchers and over 50 page views. Trust me you will get at-least $250 possibly in the $300-$400 hundreds by tomorrow morning. Remember that the most activity happens in the last 3 hours. Even in the last few minutes. Oh, don't forget to put in the description that you require payment within 72 hours (to limit buyers that don't have the money to pay now).

PS: If you aren't happy with the price in the end you always have the option to send a cancel transaction request. Thus canceling your transaction and giving you the option to relist or sell elsewhere.

Just curious... no one in this thread has mentioned what OS level their phones are on... it seems to me those who left their phones on an unlockable untethered jail break version would get more money then those on ios5, but who knows..

I'm sure u r right. Well like I said. It's at 200 now with 41 page views and 22 hours left. All I can do is hope it sells for what it's worth. I appreciate it insight man.

You are correct, you will get more money if you jailbreak and unlock. My friend jailbroke his iPhone 4 16GB and was on modem firmware/baseband 1.59.00 so he unlocked it. He got exactly $537 with $4.99 shipping.

I sold my 16Gb 4, with locked carrier and on iOS5 for £290 ($457) to a friend of a friend.

That's what mine was. I knew preserving my baseband would make it more profitable as you're able to sell it to other GSM markets who do not offer iPhone. It's a win-win for both buyer and seller. Seller makes a profit and Buyer saves over buying a new factory unlocked phone.

Not risky at all cause it's going to sell. I just sold mine last week and shipped it on Friday morning after getting my 4S. Final sale price was $510 with $15 shipping. I started mine at .99 cents and listed it as a 24 auction. When it was all said and done, I had 56 bids with 32 people watching the auction.

damn, i dont think i will be that lucky, especially since the 4s in out now. i only have 7 watchers and 42 views. seems weak to me

Out of curiosity are you selling a Verizon iPhone or AT&T iPhone 4? Also do you have the link on hand? My Great Uncle Jesse plans to pick up a second hand iPhone 4 to replace his Blackberry. Anyways though you will get at-least $300 for your iPhone 4, just relax and when you check tonight and tomorrow morning you will love the amount of bids on it. Oh and don't forget to pay seller fees once the buyer pays! They aren't too much usually less than $30 dollars, just go to myebay and account tab.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

It's a Verizon iPhone. I'll try to copy the link.

Sold mine (AT&T 4, 32 Gig) to Amazon.com, $301, no shipping costs, they cover them, no fees for paypal or ebay and no meeting crazy people off of Craigslist.

I am sure I could have got more on Craigslist but not worth the hassle.

I have had every generation of iPhone and sold each one for $300 or more and got the next model form AT&T, one year I paid full upgrade but every other year I got an early upgrade from AT&T as I am primary with four lines on my Family Plan. This year I got the 64 gig, I am hoping it will sell next year for $400 and AT&T will continue to move up early upgrades for me.
