So it's exactly I said, piecemeal boo sheet. And PayPal has done a-ok by me in the near 20 years I've had an account.
Yeah, seriously. I've put so many thousands of dollars through that account over the years and never had a real issue. And on the one or two occasions I've had an issue with a seller, they've helped me resolve it.

I mean, I've heard the horror stories but haven't had an issue myself.

I'm very curious to see how Apple Pay handles buyer/seller disputes.

I've have about $10,000.00 worth of fraud chargebacks over the past year. I uploaded all the tracking info and got paid (after the funds being frozen for 7 or 8 days) on everything. I bought 4 x iPhone X's last year and even single transaction was a chargeback - keep those tracking numbers along with signatures. Paypal fraud is out of control - they have to do something

Finally. Cant wait to dump PayPal with its crappy shady customer service.

Pay Pal is a horrible company. So long.

I honestly don't know what the deal here is. Been using PayPal for over a decade and I have had nothing but great experience. Few occasions I had issues with eBay sellers they have sorted out for me. I just can't complain about PayPal at all.

ApplePay doesn't handle disputes, it's just another way to pay with your credit card, so your card company would handle any dispute. PayPal for the most part isn't who handles the dispute now either. It's eBay that is the first line of defense, and I agree, they have been great whenever there is an issue with a seller. I don't see any reason that would change....eBay should continue to do this. They are the ones who make the charge or issue the refund. PayPal and the new company are just the payment processors. ApplePay isn't really part of the transaction other than being a secure way to present your card info to the merchant. You would never contact them in the event of a dispute....you would start with eBay and if they don't resolve it, then you would contact your card issuer.

As much as I love ApplePay, I hope that eBay continues to offer gift cards that can be purchased at Grocery Stores. I have credit card that gives 6% back on grocery store purchases and a grocery store chain that gives $0.10 off a gallon of gas for every $50 in gift card purchases. I currently buy eBay, Amazon, and gas station gift cards at my grocery store (using my cash back card through ApplePay). The eBay gift cards are issued by PayPal, so it'll be interesting to see if that continues or if they start to issue their own cards or ones through the new processor. They will also have to continue to honor the PayPal issued ones into the future in any case.

PayPal looks like it's going down the same path as AOL

Not so soon. With all the convenience Apple Pay offers, its worldwide presence is still making a very small share of PayPal’s market. Apple Pay does not work in Germany, for example, a very economically advanced European country. We may say that the local banks are not Apple terms friendly, yet the same banks have no issues with linking their accounts with PayPal. Let’s see how this develops.
