Lol...

I bought it online with Edu. Pricing. They didn't even need to ask for prove like IDs and such. Transaction just goes off and completed.

I am not sure if they really did do background check.

They don't ask for proof when you buy online. I've been out of school for a few years and I still get education discount on everything I buy. All I do is go to the education site, pick my college and that's it. They don't ask me to log into my school or anything.

FTR I do have a valid school email address still, but again nobody's asking me for proof, nor have they ever.

So there are different levels of education discounts, I was not aware of that. The i7 15" MBP was $200 off for me. What is it for a college student?

Thats because they offer a $200 on the i7 15 and the 17 inch models...and im pretty sure the online stores works off a .edu email.

I'm going to be buying from the Education store although I am not a teacher or a student. I fall under the following condition:

K12 - Any employee of a public or private K-12 institution in the United States is eligible. In addition, school board members who are currently serving as elected or appointed members are eligible. PTA or PTO executives currently serving as elected or appointed officers are eligible.

How do I provide proof of this? I realize that buying online, I may not even need to show proof but i would like to be prepared.

Thanks in advance!

When I initially started purchasing in 2007 on the apple website on the education discount they used to ask for input of your student ID including which institution you attended. Now they just ask which institution, now whether or not behind the scenes they verify I am uncertain although think it highly unlikely.

So the only notion you should have is whether or not you have an issue with being ethical if you are not in fact a student.

No proof is required online.

I asked this question to Apple Store workers MANY times. They asked their chiefs or headworkers or something else. They said they don't ask anything. So I replied that everybody can buy this way and they said, yes they do :)
