The pay & conditions in Apples Stores is also atrocious. Despite the "25%" increase back in June, which turned out for a lot to mean a lot less, around 15%, the pay is still very low, the working hours are long and the stress levels very high. When will Apple once and for all correct these issues ?

A thing is worth only what another is willing to give for it.
Apple Stores seem well-supplied with competent staff.
Seems the workers are content to give their time & effort in that line of work in return for that salary & benefits. I know people who want to work there and can't because all openings are fast filled.
What's "atrocious" about it?

Is the girl in the video 'tied' to her workplace with a blue wire?. Wow. This is how they make sure she works all the time? this should be enforced here in US, no more 'illegal' coffee break! :p

Here is what news companies show but people forget to realize, Apple and HP can only do so much to change the ways of Foxconn and Quanta since they do not own those companies and workplace rules in China.

As their largest customer I bet that they can demand pretty much anything. There might be an added cost to it though.

could always pay THEIR retail employees more, versus the people employed in other countries. It is not JUST Apple's problem, it is also the other companies in which utilize Foxconn.

Chinese workers

Perhaps we should make them citizens and give them Obamacare for life. That is the goal of big labor, is it not? Of course they would have to vote Democrat.

Always funny how the ignorant, seeking every opportunity to condemn, will attribute malice to anything they don't understand. In this case, something perfectly normal for any sensitive electronics assembly (a static discharge wire), is construed as "tying a slave laborer to her workbench".

Ummm, why?

You have faith in Apple - but it's not warranted.

never been blindly faithful to AAPL, my comment was just severely problematic.

what I really wanted to say is that once they've set a target towards a specific direction, they tend to stay true to it.

still, kinda unwarranted...anyway
