One word: Nyquil.

Reserve a nice and long night and take a shot of the stuff. You can thank me later.

ah NyQuil, some of the most potent stuff out there. if i have a migraine for more than two days its NyQuil to knock me out flat to get rid of it, helps with colds too i hear.

I'm sick right now, second time in a month. I've been taking vitamins and echinacea everyday and it doesn't appear to have helped. I might have to call in sick tomorrow.

Echinacea and vitamins generally work ok for me.

A day (or two, or more) off work might help; you could be reinfecting yourself, especially if you notice your coworkers are also getting sick.

I think I got it from my family over Thanksgiving...friggin' family ;)

Ya it's been pretty cold here lately. I've found the perfect solution though; long johns!

You wear them under your pants so no ones the wiser ;)

( I'm totally straight by the way)

Well I just went to the store...bought some honey (for tea), some Cold Eeze, and some NyQuil for later. Bring it on, biatch!

I don't think I want to leave the house. My throat hurts so much, can't swallow...

tea, and if you have it Vitamin C, definitely will be helpful, honey in your tea too

drinking OJ with a sore throat isn't a good idea because its acidic.
Vitamins and Tea probably are the best you can do right now.

good luck and i hope you feel better.

If you can, have someone go to the drugstore and get you some Cepacol. It's a spray that's got a numbing agent in it that will make it so you won't even feel your sore throat. Good stuff :D

Yea I got that stuff too. I used it once last time i had a sore throat. I didn't really like the feel of it, and it very temporary. I don't like that. I'm just goin' to stick with the tea.

Ugh. I've got a cold that (as typical for me) went right past the normal "cold" stage and straight into bronchitis. Hopefully I'll be over it in a week's time or so. NyQuil, nasal decongestants, and the nebulizer are my friends right now.

Yes, with my asthma, I got the flu shot several weeks ago.

Has anyone tried Zicam, a "no drip, liquid nasal gel"? It seems to work pretty well, but I'm used to nose "sprays" that spray, not one which launches a stealth, covert entrance in to the nasal passages, then requires a nose massage, 30 seconds after dropping the mother load.

I'm usually the one to get everyone else sick. Last Thanksgiving I brought the wonderful gift of pneumonia home from Cornell, and despite my best efforts (remaining in relative seclusion) I still managed to get the rest of my family sick. They were really happy about it.

Actually, I went to San Francisco three weeks ago and caught a cold on the plane. Got back, still had it. Mom tells me a week later "I think I caught your cold," and then I went and re-caught the same cold from her and my sister during Thanksgiving holiday a few days ago. So I guess it is my fault

I guess the only thing you can do then (seeing as how the remedies aren't working) is just to ride it out. More than likely it's viral, not bacterial (you can tell by the color of your *ahem* mucus...I know it's gross). With viruses there's not much you can do about it anyway.

Yeah...I have a good feeling it'll be mostly gone by tomorrow. Between all the medication and the probably 2 gallons of liquids I've consumed today...:D

Vitamin C (1000-2000mg/day -- the amount in your multi-vitamin or in a few pieces of fruit won't cut it!).

Echinacea

Zinc

For symptomatic relief, make sure to buy flu medicine that covers all four symptom groups (if you experience them, of course) - runny nose/sneezing (anti histamine), nasal congestion (Pseudoephedrine HCl), cough, and pain/fever.

How much is enough Vitamin C? My multi vitamin only lists Vitamin C as 120 mg (200 %DV). I think I might go buy some Echinacea.

Haha, my AP bio teacher informed us (this was years ago though) that too much vita C leads to diarrhea.

That's not cool, not cool at all.

Not cool would be if he touted the benefits of vitamin C w/out saying there could be down sides. A fellow student felt the need to tell the class that our teacher was right.

I haven't been sick for quite some time now - definitely been over 2 years, but how long exactly I'm not sure.

I'm not sure if it's simply that my immune system is in great shape or I am so busy that my body doesn't have time to be sick... ;)

There's also some joke in there about "An Apple a day..." but I'm sure it's already been mentioned earlier in this thread...

Maybe the flu...

I think I have the flu... fever, soar throat, soar joints, dry cough, stuffy nose, the whole 9 yards. I'm sick and I feel horrible, I talked to a few friends and they feel similar. Of course this happened Thanksgiving night, great timing eh?

I just hope I don't have to miss school, I hate playing catch-up. Ah great, I think my lips are chapped too *sigh* :(
