The only "good" thing I've seen is a bra pic of Ellie Goulding... That thing seriously flopped.

Ping v2 or v3 whatever it is, still not catching on. No surprise.

Though if i was interested in Apple music , connect would not sway my decision, just a gimmick I would ignore when looking at options, just like ping was a non event.

screw connect feature, fix the damn service so it stops eating all of my free storage on my phone!!!

this shouldn't be about original content, it should be reposts from all other connected accounts, twitter, insta and Facebook. a curated connection rather than an original one.

Services has just never been Apple's strong point. When Larry Page offered to sell Google to Apple, Steve Jobs should have taken the offer. I honestly do like iCloud though and Photo Syncing, its magical just seeing my Photos show up on my Mac. :)

This is worse than Ping b/c one of the presumed reasons Apple bought Beats was for the insider music industry expertise in Iovine and Dr. Dre that came with the deal. Ping did not have that expertise -- just the opposite as Facebook and Apple could never come to terms. At launch Dr Dre's involvement in Music was prominently featured. So it's rather astounding that basic social features were not included from Day One.

Seems like either Apple isn't using these guys correctly or they were not worth the money.

It seems very grand for a guy who had an admittedly bad problem to extrapolate and say that Connect is a failure.

That said, I don't know if Apple can be focused enough make connect great. If connect refinements have to fight for priority among all of Apple Music across all platforms, I don't see it happening. If they were to create a dedicated team that could operate like a startup, similar to how it seems like News is working, I think they could do it.

Connect is Apple Music's TIDAL: a "me too" that doesn't know why it exists and what it's meant to do, but whatever that is, it's not happening.

I refuse to believe Apple's engineers can't work out how many followers an artist has.

I've looked at the Connect tab atleast twice a day. I do agree that it is VERY confusing at times because some artists just spam posts from their Instagram or Facebook and don't actually post anything exclusively to Connect/Apple Music. The only people I follow that actually consistently post are the Apple Music Genre pages, even the Curators that Apple promotes don't post often, they posted months ago and just stopped. In order for this to work, people need a reason to use it.

You won't beat Twitter at being Twitter. Apple should have acquired Twitter at all costs for $5B (or whatever) 5 years ago. And they should have acquired Imstagram while the had the opportunity and kept it both as a separate iOS app and a pane in Photos and Camera apps.

After Apple Music destroyed my iTunes library twice, I've switched to Spotify and never looked back. Really lost trust in iTunes after this fiasco.

Until this article, I forgot about Connect.

Apple aren't good at Social applications. Ping was a failure, as will Connect.

Maybe Apple should have integration with other social networks such as Facebook instead?

I don't know if 'social' is just where it fails miserably. When you have Apple fanboys like Jim D./Gruber hating on Apple Music, you know it's bad.

All Apple needed to do is: scan your existing downloaded music library (NOT REPLACE anything), have a reference in the Cloud. And mix that with the streaming music. I don't get how the world's richest tech company (which spent $3 billion on 'Beats') failed on that.

More and more, they fail to execute - with quality.

Apple, why does iTunes on my phone need to "phone home" when I open it? I have a poor signal at work and my local music screen goes blank and I can't access my music. I have to go to Airplane mode to access my music. WHY??????????????????????????????

Connect has so much potential but Apple is notoriously so cautious that it won't be more flexible and let this service flourish as it can. One big thing missing: fans being able to interact with those they follow.

Not sure it's only me but I do fail to recognize any real value on Apple Music. Not really willing to spend $15 for my family on this. I already have too many bills.
I'm fairly disappointed with the service because it's so buggy, I've lost count of time number of playlists i've lost due to one bug or another.

I do see the value for our family though, with two teenage girls in the house we're definitely saving on music purchases

Note that none of the 4 people using the account has used the Connect feature since we signed up
