any particular reason why u wanna get rid of?
Not really I’m just mainly worried about my banking apps. It does have a few minor glitches every once in awhile but it is still in early stages. It’s mainly about my banking apps.

If you are worried about that you should not JB anyway...

Because the app is still just as secure as it was. Chanches on you being the target of an attack is about zero.
BTW there are far more sophisticated 0-day exploit around that could access your phone anyway if it is JBen or not.

Good to know. This is my first jailbroken iPhone so I don’t know much about this stuff

Hey, I apologize but I am not sure if this question belongs in this thread. I have the iPhone 8 Plus and version is 11.2.6 (15D100), and is there currently a stable jailbreak released with Cydia?

No there isn’t it’s only for 11-11.1.2 they did release a exploit for 11.2-11.2.2 but they have a lot of security changes for 11.2.5 and 11.2.6 so your basically out of luck. There probably won’t be a jailbreak for that verison for a long time.

Edit- The JB is only for iOS 11-11.1.2. I hope you all enjoy it :)
I'm in trouble at the ELECTRA where I did the jailbreak via the impactor CYDIA, it installs the ELECTRA icon on the iphone home (which is on iOS 11.1.2) and pressed the Jailbreak boot and pops up the message "already JAILBROKEN", but the CYDIA icon does not appear in fo home RMA some... someone knows how to fix it?

Try to delete the electra then go to tweak box app and install electra from there and see if that works

I'm still on a beta

too afraid to leap to a cydia RC electra right now

plus my config is pretty much set... minus having Cydia of course

As far as I know there is no Cydia RC, only a patched veraion, but no official as Saurik is working on his own sullotion to work with liberios

This is just a static image, there are more comprehensive lists on Github or Google Pages https://jlippold.github.io/tweakCompatible/

Update to version 1.0.3 is now out, which solves some minor issues on certain devices, and which might be the final "publicly" advertised release by coolstar (future tweaks will be "silent" pushes according to coolstar's twitter).

Brief summary of the steps (make sure to have a backup of your iOS device, and ideally also a copy of the shsh2 blobs of the current iOS version installed):

0. connect iOS device to your computer
1. download latest version of Electra ipa (e.g. "Electra 1.0.3.ipa") to your computer
2. download and install Cydia Impactor to your computer
3. launch Impactor. DO NOT PRESS "Start", but instead go to menue item "Device / Install Package" and select Electra ipa, and enter your Apple ID+pw
4. ahead of launching Electra on your iOS device, you need to update the profile in Settings / General / Profiles & Device Management / Developer App - "Trust Electra"
5. after Electra has done its stuff, launch Cydia to update a couple of essential packages provided by coolstar (and be aware that access to the Cydia server has been blocked in /etc/hosts to prevent loading packages not compatible with Electra)
6. check the link quoted above by Mr_Brightside ahead of installing any app (installing wifiFirmwareUpdater might be a good idea to fix one of the WIFI bugs fixed in iOS 11.2)

Kudos to coolstar for pulling this through! :)

Can someone explain the deal with Saurik/Cydia and the Electra JB? I read kinda Saurik was pissed at Coolstar/Electra and updated the Cydia, etc. etc. However, I have no idea what is this all about. I want to go to iOS 11 from iOS 9 finally but this issue with Saurik prevents me doing the JB.

So ill try to give you the tl;dr to a really long, still ongoing tale but — try to stay with me if you care (or just browse u/saurik’s comments on reddit)

Saurik doesn’t like the underlying method coolstar uses for tweak injection. It’s a daemon, and saurik has a better method and wasn’t reliant on arbitrary timelines so he said he was almost done months ago. He is also working with an OG jailbreak research dev supposedly, who is cool with bein revelaed but down the road when they have a release. Saurik I believe built on LiberiOS for the foundations of what he is working on, a jailbreak that doesn’t allow for tweaks and isn’t an ‘intrusive’ to the system type jailbreak its supposedly minimalist in purpose. He got the flu, and has a job and is just busy and refuses to work with coolstar bc of past drama and coolstar supposedly making previous JB’s more difficult to support or something. The new saurik ETA is unknown, even by saurik himself.

Electra was in beta phase, SSH tweaks manually into folder without Cydia. And extracted .deb’s, and relying on old JB phones to repackage debs if you cant find links or on default repos using tweakupdates.com

Fast forward to current RC phase of Electra, has Cydia but uses Comex’s substitute just like the betas, a substitute for substrate. Substrate isn’t compatible with iOS 11 as of yet.

FWIW, Saurik has not discouraged people from using Electra, he said that explicitly, but it’s not known when a Saurik JB will be out

To add salt in the wound of them not being cool with each other, when Coolstar released RC Electra with Cydia, he forked some of saurik’s Tools and saurik was pissed not because he ‘took his work’ but because he renamed the build #’s the same as saurik’s and added -coolstar to it or something, effectively buying into the coolstar ecosystem as he called it more or less. BUT Saurik pushed an apt update that changed the smallest amount of code for a bug for his base of iOS 8-10 users or 7-10 or something, and it ended up breaking Cydia RC builds, so that got corrected by coolstar. Some thought saurik maliciously did it to take the wind out of electra’s Sails, but i dont buy it. Saurik is a stand up guy.

I think there will be tools to reverse RC Electra, fwiw, assuming one remembers system wide changes they make outside of the tweak folders, but who knows

I’m on beta Electra myself, and foregoing Cydia drama, and also freezing reports and weird stuff with RC like bad battery life and warming of the device that supposedly can be tough to isolate if its experienced ... and I’m just going to be happy on beta with my config until the dust settles. And the reversal process is fairly easy at least on beta with a script. It’s kinda still unknown-ish on RC reversing imo, but semirestore seems promising, it takes an APFS snapshot of your ‘stock’ state of file structure, I’m sure someone will figure out how to leap to saurik jb from it since a lot of people are on it. But i cant imagine keeping track of folders outside of tweak folders being trigger happy with a GUI-loaded tweak installer like Cydia haha. Manual is better in that regard on the beta, i only made a couple system wide folder changes that i will for sure remember when reversing eventually.

ALSO!

if you dont have blobs for 11.0-11.1.2, forget upgrading from iOS 9 or any other version. You’d have to go to 11.2.6 which is all that is signed and its not jailbreakable.

I hope this clarified some stuff, I’m sure I’ve misquoted a bit of it, but for a lazy summation i think its as good as you’ll get on here :D

I kept my 2 SEs, 6S+ and 7+ on 11.1.2 just so I could JB, My 6S and 6+ are already jailbroken since last year.

I'm not going to JB any of my phones yet using this method.

That must be excruciating waiting with that many stock devices on 11.1.2

Props!

I'm actually not missing the JB on my 6S and 7+ on 11.1.2. I'll keep them on that version till I decide on what to do but I may just keep them stock.
