Evidently some Element Sector 5 for Iphone 5 orders have started. Will the people that managed to get into the first group PLEASE PLEASE review, if only briefly their impressions. I am especially interested in whether the Polymer RF Link to maintain signal strength works and signal strength is maintained.

Buy this "case" if you must, but pray you don't run into Jonny Ive in a dark alley while carrying your phone. This is pretty much the exact opposite of everything he and his team stand for.

Something tells me he and his crew aren't the most street savvy crew. Think I could take him.

Elementcase Sector 4 Review

I've looked all over, and it's really hard to find reviews for this case, so if thought I'd throw one together and post it here. I ordered the Sector 4 w/ Black Hardware, and chose overnight shipping. I used the Mens Journal Discount Code that I found online, and it ended up being $116 + Shipping. There is a 2 day processing time for these cases. For some reason, there was an extra day delay, and element sent me an email explaining they were overloaded, apologized for the day, and refunded me 100% of my shipping making my total purchase $116 out the door, which I feel was an exceptional deal! I absolutely recommend looking around on the internet for a discount code, it saved me 30 bux!.

OK, so anyway I ordered on a Tuesday evening, case arrived on Friday. Here's my thoughts after using it for the past few days.

FIRST LOOK: The case is MUCH lighter than I anticipated! Every surface has been perfectly machined and finished. No sharp corners, extra material, or burrs of aluminum anywhere.

FIT: The case fits snug on the phone. Every part, all the way around, front to back, has been perfectly designed, produced, and finished to standards parallel to Apple.

FEEL: The “Flux Finish” feels smooth to the touch, and all edges feel “soft” but rugged at the same time. The case feels VERY sturdy in my hands while talking or texting.

FUNCTION: Absolutely no reception issues at all, my phone works just as it did before installation. No "Flashback" from the Ultra Suede back plate. GPS isn't affected in any way. I have experienced literally NO ISSUES at all with the function of my phone.

LOOK: The Case looks amazing! No advertisement can capture how nice the "Flux" Finish looks in real life. The exposed screws on the front give it a rugged "tech" look that comes off like it belongs in the toolbox of a NASA Technician!

OVERALL: This case has surprisingly exceeded my every expectation! I've used many cases for all current and previous versions of the iPhone, and this one is by far my favorite, and seems like it's a higher quality than any case I've ever used. 5 Stars for sure!

Pros: Everything about it. (see above)
Cons: Some might say price, but I feel like dollar for dollar I certainly got what I paid for.

If you followed Element Case in the past...I've read that the CEO is a biker. All their cases look pretty beefy and rugged. Maybe the Sector is meant to look like that? Perhaps like a motorcycle chain?

I think everyone has their right to buy whatever case they want...if they don't like the Sector, and want to be a traditionalist like Ives..stick with a naked iPhone..just don't cry when you drop it or your keys scratch it.

The Sector is growing on me..I'm due for an upgrade in Nov...so maybe I'll try this case out.

What about the depth? Does it protect the glass when placed flat on a table?
Would it protect the edges of the Glas.t screen protector?

There is a small lip to prevent the glass from touching if you set the phone down

This is one sweet looking case. And it costs 160$

Although the case is good looking, it does not actually improve the looks of the iphone 5 compared to stock IMO

It doesn't seem to have a lip over the front glass. If you dropped it couldn't your screen still take the hit????

Edit: yeah I seen the post about the small lip but it isn't significant enough to prevent damage, don't you guys think?

In order for it to take a hit, the surface which the phone is dropped on must be uneven. Either with rocks or maybe cement or pavement that is rough enough that there are parts that could touch the glass. This could happen to any case though, even with a larger lip. Of course the surface wouldn't need to be as uneven to break this case because of the smaller lip. So yes, it could break in this case but could break in other cases as well. Maybe a tempered glass screen protector would help, the screen protector may break without breaking the actual glass.

Without having it in hand to compare, i can tell you that the Vapor Comp, which also has quite a small lip, will prevent some damage on a drop (unless, of course, you drop it onto gravel or some other uneven surface). I tripped and accidentally flung my 4S in a Vapor Comp case down a sidewalk where it hit on a couple of corners and skidded across the concrete. No damage whatsoever to my phone, but the case had a couple of dings and a scratch, far less damage than what I expected to see when I picked it up. Of course, YMMV with the new one, but this is a little anecdotal evidence that you don't necessarily need a huge lip to prevent damage. :)

Thanks for the information. I was mostly concerned that there wasn't a lip at all. I used to have an atomic industries bumper that was similar in design as far as the lip goes.

Will you wait for more designs from element or go with the Sector?
