Does the white vapor pro have any yellowing effects?

from what I understand the white pro uses automobile grade paint plus a clear coat so its not supposed to degrade over time like it would from a typical spray paint can.

I just got my Vapor Pro Spectra Blood Red/Black, with SGP CF back and screen protector for my 4S. So far I didn't notice any decrease in signal bars or wifi. I love the case, but my only complain is that you could see the silver edge of the phone from some angles. Overall, i like it. I took some pics, tell me what you guys think:

Hopefully you catch this really quick, solution! :D

Short intro: Same boat as you, has a bit of silver banding showing, though really I could push the phone within the case and give it just the right position and it would work, but then it would resettle in the previous annoying position.

Permanent solution? Sponge Rubber Weatherstrip!
Linky to picture just in case the product link drops

I kid you not.

Just cut it to the proper width and height in the areas that are required to make your phone sit perfectly center within the case and viola. Problem solved!

Obviously, this is because Elementcase misplaced the pads or the pads are a bit worn out, but the weather stripping is just perfect, plus, since it's well.. rubber weather stripping, it should last forever :D

In store at The Home Depot it was $3.27. Online it's $4.58.

Enjoy ^_^

So $170 bucks and 4 days later, I received and installed my white edition vapor pro...

Disappointed #1 that their website pictures the case as being the same color white as the iphone. It is definitely a brighter pure white while the phone is like an off white porcelain color. The rear skin and ear pad are exact matches to the phones white, however, which is weird being that they would match the colors of the smaller accessories to the phone but not the actual case itself. Odd. This isn't a huge deal to me, but after seeing the final product on my Own phone, I'd rather have the black version on the black iPhone or the new USA blue case on the white.

Disappointed #2 that the really nice clarino ear pad disables the proximity sensor even after soft resetting the phone and resetting the network settings. Not a big deal to me since I'm already constantly muting my calls and ending them inadvertently even with the sensor working properly.

Overall, I'm very happy with it. I'm really critical and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to details like the ones I mentioned above, but all in all in seems very high quality, awesome fit, no noticeable signal or gps loss on Verizon of course, and it's definitely a clean look like no other.

I will add pics in a few minutes once I figure out photobucket...

What do you all think!?

the iPhone does look yellow..

and i don't think you need an ear pad

I think maybe it's my screen protector. It's an incipio freebie. But probably not since the ear pad and rear skin are just as yellow.

It looks great! I can understand a higher expectation to the price paid. Personally, I would ditch the ear pad. Also think it'll look even better if you stick one of those luckylab apple logo on the back piece.

I look at the photos last night and it look a little of white too but I saw my phone this morning and it look pure white to me. Maybe if you change to a clear film from power support it will look better. Also I think if your monitor is not fully calibrated it will look differently of different monitors at from my end. I personally think having the ear pad looks very tacky and having a back panel plate will take the alegent from the phone. overall the case looks sexy and thank you for sharing your pictures.

You are lucky. The same case rendered my GPS useless on my iPhone 4. Also lost signal, which became an issue when traveling in "low signal" areas. Sold it on Ebay.

----------

What difference does it make whether it is 1st or 2nd edition? They both look equally nice.

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the ear pad either, but I dropped my phone a month ago and there's a small chip in the glass about the size of a small pill where the stainless steel band meets the glass which was driving me absolutely crazy, so I wanted to cover that up until I get a 4S or the 5. Then I'll just sell this case if I get the 5 obv.

We'll if you change your mind on selling I'll take it out of hands.

I've a question to those that has purchased directly from element or authorised dealer. Is the screwdriver silver or black. I've been looking at ebay for this case and I see different color. Makes me think this cases are knockoff cases and selling for real one.

The screw driver that came with mine are silver. They are different size screws on the pro vs. the vapor 4. Mine is directly from Element.

Aside from an invoice from Element or an authorized 3rd party, I don't think there really is a sure fire way to tell the real from the fake.

I'm referring to the screwdriver not the screws. I see a lot of vapor pro white cases in ebay with black and silver screwdrivers.

silver screwdriver should be the fake one. So far, I have seen the real ones come in black. there is a thread that show picture comparison....in the knock-off thread.

again, do not buy from ebay if you want the real thing...buy it directly from them or the authorized dealer from their site. Also, they provide discount coupon. Why bothering buying from eBay for a fake one. I have seen all the completed auction and 95% of them are fake. There are 2 authorized seller on eBay, but I can create an account myself with the authorized seller name and sell fake ones....

Also, if you have any issues, then you and get a replacement or refund. With eBay, it's mostly sold as-is...

Good point. I'll just order it when it becomes available from Tekcases.com which is a authorized dealer and he is only 20 minutes from my office or if a member here have one for sale.

Thanks maybee :D

I ended up selling my element case a while back and just found these accessories that have never been used. I think I just might end up selling them.

Speed Wrench w/ 2 screws
Black Backplate
Cleaning Cloth

My white edition straight from elementcase.com came with a silver screw driver. Why would the silver one be fake?

Element case used to only have the screwdriver in black, but now its silver per their website. http://www.elementcase.com/Vapor-Transit-Kit-p/api4-1x03-k0x0.htm

But I agree, if you want the real deal without question, buy it from either elementcase directly or their authorized dealers which are tekcases or moxie I believe.

I think you'll love it. Aside from the minor criticism above I had of the case, the metal is smooth as silk to the touch, it's way easier to hold now than without a case, no sharp edges, fits perfectly, no signal loss, doesnt ad too much weight, it's awesome!

You're very welcome.

Also, keep your receipt and proof of purchase. Whenever you do decide to sell it on eBay, then you can show that it's authentic.

So, it's better to buy it from their site to guarantee the real thing...

Got my third Element case, a Vapor Pro Stealth last night from tekcases.com. They've sold me all three of the cases, great service

No issues with 3G, wifi or GPS. Verizon 4S for reference

Btw, I have black screwdrivers that came with the Comps, silver screwdrivers that have different screws but the same hex head that came with the transit kit (must be for the Vapor 4), and a silver screwdriver that came with the Pro that appears to have a different sized hex head. Also, I see that the Pro that carbonfibergear.com has a black screwdriver that comes with it. So apparently Element has been releasing their screwdrivers in multiple iterations.

For those that like the old school look and feel of leather.

Real leather about 1 mm thick, not a thin sheet of faux leather like the one from SGP.

My point was that with padding, it [the case] should essentially hold onto your phone better and not allow for that aforementioned looseness. It should have the adding, there's no reason why it shouldn't.

The padding should be located in the top right corner where it joins with the top area [power button] and the bottom right hand corner before it hits the dock opening.

Here's a shot of it [taken from gear diary]. You can see the padding on the shot, though a bit fuzzy.

The reason why this case works so well imo is that it just doesn't touch the phone, the padding keeps it off the phone, you can probably buy some of it somewhere.. though I have no idea what it would be properly called :S

Thanks for pointing that out. I posted a photo, where there is electric tape is where I have no padding . On one whole side. Still I have the flexing/loose feeling.

The screw driver / installation tool for real ones has a small rubber o-ring to help keep the screw driver from getting loose and falling off if you had it on a key chain ... like the one in this picture. It's fairly easy to see when it's not there in pictures...

After owning and comparing a real Vapor Pro and a copy first hand, it is not difficult to spot the copies... even in internet pictures. The quality of the finish on most of the copies is not as good. The silvers look too dull and the black opps look too glossy. The copy finishes also look more like spray paint than anodizing. The fit and or color of the plastic insert is usually off on the copies. Even the "long" insert on the copies is not always the same length as a real ones. The fake soft travel case is really easy to spot in pictures.

My real Vapor Pro is a Black Stealth version. I got a Silver copy to see if the quality was as good and to be able the switch my case colors from time to time. After owning and comparing the quality first hand, I sold the copy for what I paid.

If you had the copy and never saw a real Vapor Pro other that in pictures, you would probably be happy with it. Then again, if you had an average plastic android phone and never saw the quality of an iPhone other than in pictures, you would probably be very happy with that too.
