AT&T can lie and say that all they want. There is no reason in the world why Apple would not want to sell more phones. This is entirely AT&T's policy, not Apple's.

I totally agree with you, AT&T are the ones cock blocking us, and if we cant get past them to get the upgrade early how many people will wait for the 5, six weeks is not a lot of time to wait, but it then pushes you back for the next upgrade, because even if Apple follow this 18 month trend for the 5, we will still be short on the early upgrade.

I would hazard a guess that AT&T are hoping that we are rabid enough to pay the extra $250 to get the 4s early, and then again in a year when the 5 comes out.

When I was talking to the manager, she couldn't make the change herself, she had to submit a request to the 'I.T.' department.

So no, they can't change it themselves but it is possible to be done.

Ha, AT&T is trying to lose customers...

As a valued customer, we can offer you a full upgrade with a new 2-year commitment and $18 up grade fee.

Oct 4, 2011
A full discount on a standard device or iPhone upgrade is not available at this time but you may qualify on 02/16/2012. We can offer you a discounted iPhone upgrade at a 2-yr commitment pricing +$250 and an $18 upgrade fee...

Assures even lower demand for the iPhone 4+. Sorry, AAPL.
I finally called 611 and they could not determine why my eligibility was pushed back.

Looking at my account & bill size, she said I should be on the shortest rotation cycle and eligible for full discount.

Problem is, they have to "research" this and will call me back in 7 days with the fix.

So I either wait & stand in line, or preorder/buy at the +$250 price and then get a refund in the next billing cycle.

This is all a mess.

And seems no one has a definitive awnser on how eligibility works.

So My self my wife and my mother all bought iPhone 4's on release day - Pre-order

I am eligible my wife is not which is understandable were on a shared plan and the main account holder get it earlier I don't agree with this but its how it is.

However my mother is not eligible she is on her own account and purchased the same day. She has been on the phone with apple and att all day today and yesterday and is not getting anywhere or any definitive awnser on why.

They are just reading from a script.

her eligibility date is Nov25th

If anyone know's how this all works I would love to hear it

interesting as my coworker and i had ordered our 4 on the same day/received the same day and he's eligible and i'm not. when i spoke with at&t all they said was the only upgrade eligibility date change that occurred on my account was a 2 day increase from 11/22 up to 11/24 and she had no clue why. super.

AT&T mistakenly thought I de-combined my billing.

Manager has submitted an "emergency adjustment request" -- we'll see what happens.
