Oscar-winning actress and Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor dies of congestive heart failure at 79
She had some amazing performances during her career. Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf was always a favorite of mine. RIP.
Not just a pretty face, she also used her star power to raise AIDS awareness when few would even go near that issue.
Liz goes for a Burton (possibly doesn't make sense non Brits).
Wasn't she ill for the past 10 years? It seems like she has been on death watch for a long time.
I have heard this used before, and understand the context, but I don't know the origin of it.
I'm lazy, so, if you would indulge me?
A beautiful and wonderful person left us an awesome legacy!
It dates from WW2 origins are murky:
This is the one I will cling to.
Some poor lad, in a WWI Sopwith Camel, I muse.
Curse you, Red Baron!!!
I think she's been on vacation for 40 years. But man she was hot back in her day.
She was the best.
Why is it every time a celebrity dies Elton John's comments have to be quoted? Does any one care what he thinks? I bet he never even met her.
IIRC, didn't they join forces to fight AIDS/ raise awareness in the early 1990s?
Maybe because they were friends and raised millions for AIDS research.
^You obviously read the tabloids more than me.
Actually, I think we just had the the two seconds needed to type 'friendship elton john liz taylor' into Google before making an (incorrect) blanket statement.
Remember that tribute song Elton John did for Tupac?
When I went away to college I had a fuzzy photo of Liz taken by a relative who watched her make the film The Sandpiper down the coast from Big Sur. It was hard to tell who it was, but there was no doubt about her very exceedingly exceptional build and beauty.
My new roommates were showing photos of the girlfriends they left behind and bragging about how hot they were, so I pulled out Liz and claimed she was my girlfriend "Mary".
Shut them up, like instantly. I kept the secret for weeks. It was fun.
Spammers have no shame.
I like this...
No sig for you, 1 year.
Oh wow, I didn't know she died. I guess I've missed a lot this past week
Don't they have Wi-Fi in your bathysphere??
OK, so what is your favorite LT movie?
Mine has to be Giant. Find a list of her movies here.
