He's the biggest fraud in the history of business. Guy has literally done nothing. Didn't even found Tesla.

Hes basically a business celebrity who makes money because he's a business celebrity.
He has done more to contribute to how we launch satellites to space, has provided transportation to the space station, has built a huge business out of SpaceX and not to mention his tunnelling business. As for Tesla, he never claims to have started it, but you are living out how he turned it into the worlds largest EV company. Hell, look at the GIGA factories he designed since buying the company. Not sure how you can call him a "fraud"

Well, now you've changed the tune. :) Sure, he has accomplished things. But I bet there are a few good eggs on this forum that have accomplished more. Musk himself has achieved financial success by doing what all the good old boys did in the early 1900s: treat workers poorly, take credit for things you do not do (e.g., "found Tesla"), promote
misogyny, etc... I do not consider that accomplishing. I consider that using the old ways of cheating and forcing your way past treating people fairly so that you can make $$$.
Whenever claimed to have founded Tesla. He has however turned Tesla into an EV jaugernaught and has changed the way EV's are manufactured. He also opens his technology to the public, anotherwords no patents. Then there is SpaceX, and the The Boring Company. Not sure he has ever taken credit for things he did not do.

I'm old enough to remember when Elon was still a darling in Hollywood and played himself on The Big Bang Theory.

I wonder what changed that turned him into such a villain to those same people.

Yep but it is the same people who tell you he inherited all his startup money and didn't do anything on his own. An outright falsehood and lie when he had 100k in student loans at one point. Loans he didn't get wiped out either.

He's like a Kim Kardashian. What did she do to gain her billions? Really!
I fail to see how your comparison even holds up. Kim has made her millions off of selling her "brand", whereas Elon made millions starting out with his brother, and then he is the founder and CEO of SpaceX, he was an angel investor, and now CEO and primary stock holder of Tesla, which under his watch has far exceeded anything Tesla was doing prior to his involvement in the operations of the business, and he also has The Boring Company as well as Neuralink, OpenAI, and lets not forget StarLink. To say he his like Kim Kardashian is just plain false.

The Musk cult is..odd.

Elon is one of the most mediocre people I've come across. And to add to that..he's the son of two mine owners in South Africa's apartheid period.

I mean...
Pointing out facts doesn't make someone a part of a cult. Though disliking the man because the media tells you to, may be a cult thing.

He famously doesn't get along with his father at all, so trying to link him to his father is interesting.

If he is mediocre compared to people you've come across, you've come across some exceptionally successful people I guess.

I'd love to know why he was beloved by some of the same people in the past who now despise him. His parents and upbringing didn't change since then. Something did though, we all know what.

He is linked though. Financially. And most people dislike billionaires period. Media has nothing to do with it.

You cannot file for and obtain a ton of patents and then claim that you think patents are no good. If patents are no good, do not file any patent applications. But Tesla files a ton. Because Musk knows they have value and has used them to generate value. Classic Musk smoke and mirrors; no conviction to anything he says.

Confounded by inflation and economy in recession. Might be as you say but hard to know with all the other economic noise.
The reason I say that is Tesla had a ~ 20% drop the day Elon announced the twitter buy initially. That was way out of the norm for that day on the market.

But to your point, market forces since then are not due to that. Could it have recovered if the announcement occurred in isolation without all the other world events? Who knows…

But in general, when a C-Suite‘s public antics have that much of an impact on the value of a company, that is bad business. It would be sad to see Elon’s impulsive public behavior kill Tesla or SpaceX - they are adding value to our world.

That would be a badge of honor to me.

Give me unequivocal proof bro. Guessing you can’t. But I’m open to whatever inside information you have. And if true I just might believe you.
I mean he definitely slept with a subordinate and is having a child with her. Try doing that at work and see if you keep your job.

aka - he was going to lose so he has no choice other than to try to save face by making it look like it’s his decision.

How is this a best case scenario for most people.

Here is a best case for a sizable group of people: Musk takes over Twitter and there are no supresión of speech except for legally defined threats of physical violence as currently understood by newspapers and pornography as currently recognized by law. Twitter becomes a free speech, free joke, free meme environment. That’s a great outcome for lots of people.

Pressure mounts and Facebook, YouTube, and Google do the same. Free uncensored speech returns as a priority in American life.
Or twitter becomes another 4chan and sane people leave the cesspool. Advertisers leave due to lack of monetizable users.

He has been advised he couldn't win the case so he had to proceed with the purchase.

Hope he reins in all the strange bannings and over the top censorship 👍
Twitter and the people still in it are 100% irrelevant to actual daily life.
Twitter and social media could quietly die and the world will be a better place.

The ONLY good thing twitter ever did for me was to ban me, I got to understand how the algorithm works to keep you in conflict, it releases all sorts of chemicals in the brain that become addictive. I realised how much time I wasted on something that was 100% irrelevant and worthless.

I am now happier, busier doing actual things, more socially engaged with people who matter.

Thanks Twitter, you did ONE thing right by me.
I will NEVER come back.
