Good. Twitter's an absolute shart-hole, but it was on its way to being something worse. Hard to imagine, somehow, but true.

UPDATE: Oops... didn't read the "update" (because I really don't give a farging farg). Hopefully it all falls through.

So it looks like everyone should have assumed, an elaborate stock manipulation scheme from someone only a few steps away from being a James Bond villain (albeit a 4th tier one). It looks like Twitter is going to try hold him to his deal and hopefully the legal ramifications will haunt him for a long time. It couldn't happen to a more deserving person.

Hahah.

He'll be sued for billions. There stock dropped because of him. People quit because of him. They laid off people because of him.

Musk is the worst
To say Musk is the worst when Tesla’s patents are open sourced “because if some other company comes along and does things so much better than us that we shut down and go bankrupt, I still think that’s a good thing for the world” is laughable. Such an attacking society we live in.

I agree

"Most merger agreements do have an obligation on the sellers’ part to assist the buyer with due diligence. But Musk waived that.” Yes, he certainly did forgo his right to due diligence back in April when he first struck a deal with Twitter’s board."
The Forbes monkey network is not a valid source. Citing it invalidates any argument you have made or will make.

Update: Twitter chairman Bret Taylor says that Twitter's board is "committed to closing the transaction" and plans to pursue legal action to enforce the agreement.

So if Twitter sues Musk to "enforce" the agreement... and that agreement was Musk buying Twitter... then that means an extremely bitter Musk will end up owning Twitter.

I thought it was crazy that Musk wanted to own Twitter in the first place. My first thought was "what will he do with it?"

But I'm not sure it's a good idea to "force" Musk to own Twitter if he doesn't want it.

He could shut Twitter down just for spite!

Do we know this - that Twitter knowingly counted spam accounts as MAUs - as fact or are we just speculating here?
I don't believe we do. However, spam accounts are just part of the game these days. Pretty much every online site has them and they are deceivingly difficult to eradicate. This argument is just an excuse to get out of the deal and nothing more.

This is just posturing on Twitter's part. With Telsa's stock in the dumpster Musk doesn't have the money to buy Twitter anymore. Twitter wants its $billion break up fee.

John Wayne Gacy gave kids candy. The audacity of the world calling hm a serial killer just because there were a few bodies buried under his house is insane when you think of all the kids that would not have gotten free candy if not for him.

Embarrassing just like Tesla’s cars.
A year ago I would've dismissed this comment, but I have to agree. I rented a Tesla and it was the worst vehicle experience I've ever had. Car was great until it stopped working at a supercharger and had to be towed to a Tesla dealer. Complete incompetence there from top to bottom: no regard for customer service, including but not limited to closing the dealership and leaving me there locked inside while I waited in the waiting room for an update on the car and telling me (untruthfully) that the vehicle couldn't be opened so my belongings (including medicines) would be stuck inside for weeks.

I sold my TSLA stock and would never drive another one.

They don't know what they want.
They’re too busy hating on someone to see through to the facts.

I don’t even know if he is in the wrong…haven’t read the SEC docs nor do I care to. I don’t use twitter so none of this is even my business.

It’s not surprising to see how this thread went; the usual MR negativity towards any rich person or company is nothing new.

Maybe if they spend that energy making money they wouldn’t be so bitter. Just my opinion.

Not sure I accept the analogy. This man is talking about accepting bankruptcy and worse, the dissolution of his empire, specifically for the greater good of the world.

Let’s not get confused. I’m not saying he’s Jesus. But I think calling him “the worst” is highly irrational.

Musk buying Twitter and making it transparently open equally as a marketplace for ideas would have been great. But starting to wonder if he is … ok?
