SD cards are generally slower then CompactFlash cards and have about the same lifespan.

Then help me out here 32GB SSD with a SATA to IDE Adaptor or a 16GB CF with CF to IDE adaptor

How many more years do you plan to get out of this eMac. If it's more then two, get the SSD.
