I have an iPhone 15 pro running 17.1.1. Starting last week, the mail app cannot reliably connect to my microsoft accounts: 3 Exchange, 1 outlook. I get "cannot connect to server" messages and repeated requests for passwords on the outlook account. Mail retrieval fails most times.

There are MANY recent Mail app review comments in the App Store that indicate many are having similar problems lately.

I have reset the phone. I have reset network settings. I have completely deleted all accounts and re-added them.

Same issue. Seems to be 17.1 related.

I have NO issues with this on other Apple devices running older OSs.

Anyone else seeing this?

I’m seeing this too. Seems like I’m being asked for my Outlook password at least once a day ever since 17.1.1 was installed on my iPhone and iPad.

Is anyone else running into having to re-enter your password for any Microsoft email account that you access via the Mail app on your iPad or iPhone? I'm prompted to do that several times a day, every day, since updating to iOS 17. I feel my only option would be to disconnect then reconnect my email accounts and see if that fixes it but was curious if others are seeing this first.

I’m Not even on IOS 17 and still getting password requests on both my ipad and iPhone to connect to Microsoft email at least once a day

I started getting this a few days ago and was still on 17.03 (deleted accounts, re added, turned of 2FA and nothing has fixed it), upgrading to 17.1.1 did not help. This is ridiculous that an iOS update or a backend system update hasn't happened yet.

I’m not sure if this has been an issue on prior models but I haven’t had this issue with my MacBook Pro or the IPad. Ever since I’ve gotten the IPhone 15PM nothing I’ve tried can keep my Hotmail email accounts from being synced without constantly having to re log in.

Is there something I’m missing? Is the Apple email app broken? This bug is driving me bananas.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I created an app-specific password in my MS account last night and used that on my iPhone. Haven't gotten the login prompt yet 🤞
Tried that too but no luck, it returned a day later.
it even interrupted me while typing this reply. 😩

I'm thinking it's an issue on Microsoft's end too, that just so happened to start around when 17.1.1 was released.

The last time I was prompted to re-authenticate was Tuesday morning, so maybe it's fixed for me now. I didn't do anything special on my end. (Didn't reset my phone, didn't re-install Mail, didn't remove/re-add accounts, didn't use app specific passwords.)

I had alot of issues with apple mail when I added a firewall to my network. Apple requires alot of ports open to function correctly online. Maybe you have a network device blocking traffic..?!

I still haven't received a prompt to re-authenticate after using a app-specific password with my outlook.com account.

What I did:
Delete Outlook account off iPhone.
Add Outlook account using Microsoft Exchange option
Enter your email address
Select auto-setup (or whatever the non-manual option is)
On Outlook login panel, use the app-specific password in the password field instead of your normal account password.

This is happening to me since I upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro max. Everyone else I know with an older apple iPhone are not having issues running older iOS. Apple need to rectify this problem asap. I have to turn my phone off as I can’t get emails, it freezes then the screen sometimes goes black. It’s totally unacceptable.
I’m fuming 😡
