Email notifications just started working?

I remember years ago getting email notifications for new comments on threads. But haven't had such for many years. Not certain if I turned it off, or if it just broke. Have been happy since then with the in-forum notifications (just getting the number badge on the bell icon up in the forum's top bar, and occasionally getting a "you have new notifications" pop-up at the bottom of a thread or when refreshing a page.

This morning, I've started getting email notifications again. Either I have the setting switched on and they started working again (in which case I'll need to go find the setting and turn it off - I'm happy with the previous behavior), or they've always been working and something has gone through and turned that setting back on for me (and others?).

@arn - have things changed?

By the way, love this site and appreciate all the work that you, the editors, writers, and mods, put into keeping it going.

We didn't change anything. Forum thread emails should have been working.

However... we do use a 3rd party to send the emails (SendGrid). They are pretty aggressive about dropping emails to email addresses they feel that are either invalid or have blocked our emails.

So, if someone ever clicks "spam" on an email of ours, they won't send any more emails to that email address... unless we remove the block manually. Similarly, if they receive a permanent error from an email address (address doesn't exist), they will stop sending emails to that address. Sometimes this can happen with a misconfiguration on the email side.

In your case, it looks like your email bounced a while ago... and they stopped delivering. I guess they try again at some point?

Ah, thanks. I'll go find the option to turn off - forums get enough traffic these days that I don't want to be deluged with email notifications. Weird that it bounced at some point, I'll have to look into that.

I'm still getting email notifications of posts to threads.

A while ago, in the Preferences, I unchecked "Receive email when a new conversation message is received" under "Email options", and both of the "and receive email notifications" choices under "Content options".

Does it take some time to take effect, or did I miss a box somewhere?

The top pop up "Manage Watched Threads" -- lets you disable email notifications for all your watched threads.

If you want to be selective, you can pick them individually and there's a pop-up at the bottom that lets you disable only the selected ones

Edit: I am really happy there's a button to disable it for all prior threads - it'd take an hour to go through all of them by hand. Thanks again!

Seems the Gmail outage this week caused my notification emails to not be send anymore. How I can re-enable it?

Something weird is going on, I'm not receiving any notifications anymore. I've noticed that after you asked me to check, some threads were not being notified, while others and PMs were - now I'm not receiving anything for almost 24h.
