Didn’t get the email but was able to go through the ore approval for the upgrade directly on the app.
 
This is when I clicked on “Continue” to “Confirm your carrier”. What gives?

Same here. I think that's the problem. It can't verify the account, even when you manually enter the number and last 4 of SSN.

Ditto... my SO has regular SIM and the pre-approval was painless! I’m stuck right now... will try to call Apple Customer Care. Not sure if this is an issue w. T-Mobile (like few years ago) or on Apple’s end?

Would appreciate if others w. eSim share their pre-approval experience and if it worked for anyone (I’m w. T-Mobile).

you can only change it during the actual pre-order (5am Pacific on September 13). until then, your pre-approval is stuck with what you chose.

Thanks. We're good as long as we can change it then. Will it do another credit check if the new device costs more?
 
Anyone else considering "upgrading" from XS to 11? The lower monthly payments are tempting me...
 
Ugh is it really because of each e sim. Wtf

If you have another iPhone (or family members) that has a physical sim, you can complete the pre-approved process from their device. You just have to log in with your Apple ID within the Apple Store app and make sure you select your current iPhone that you're upgrading to (if you're an existing iUP member). It shouldn't error out on the carrier verification screen.

I was able to use my AT&T work iPhone 8 without any issues!

Hmm I got to another screen it says that mobile confirm with carrier. I have to put my number and last 4 SSN. So maybe it's not e sim that's the issue

I got to that screen too and it gives me the error "We're sorry. This feature is momentarily unavailable. Please try again later." and "We can't connect to your wireless carrier at this time. Please try again later. We're sorry for the inconvenience." Wondering if once you enter the info, it does some handshake with the sim to verify the network.
