ooh i totally have to do this! does anyone know if other people without iphones can see the emoji?
depends on the phone as far as i know. i got the feeling most USA phones can't but the rest or the world can.
I sent an SMS with emoji icons to my sweetheart (she has the 3G iPhone 2.2 Firmware) and she said she's taking me to dinner tonight...
they basically work in everything u type like notes, emails, sms, web etc. but only iPhone users on 2.2 can see them as far as i can tell

How do you access them once in SMS or Mail or Notes?
I bet it's really simple.....
hit the little globe icon thingy left of spacebar
You need to go into Settings>General>Keyboard>International Keyboards>Japanese>Emoji ON. Then just go to email, SMS or notes and press the WORLD/GLOBE icon next to the spacebar and between 123 icon.
Found it.... I should learn to read instructions..... I needs to enable emoji in settings.
Now if only Safari supported them, I wouldn't see 3 squares on my MacBook....
