And yet again another report ‘selectively’ reported on here at Mac Rumors... stop trying to slander Amazon please, it’s embarrassing for the site.
Like the fact you forgot to mention these employees have to sign NDA’s, and in other countries have to follow strict data protection laws.
It’s like trying to make a massive thing over any company with a call centre, because their thousands of employees have access to the customers details and addresses...
Sad really.

And as already stated. Amazon knows my address, how the **** do you think they deliver to you, the courier driver knows my address, the friggin people on their warehouse know my address, and shock horror guess what! APPLE KNOWS MY ADDRESS oh God how bad is that!!!
Good grief, the point isn’t that Amazon has your address it’s why do people working on Alexa need it? I don’t care if they sign an NDA. What do they need to know my address for? They’re not delivering me packages.

In fact reading the story again, this site should be reported for downright scare mongering! Seriously Mac Rumors should write Trumo’s speeches..

Some people can enter the devices geographical location into google maps... wow really!
Or ‘certain employees’ have full access to customers details, hmm I love how it fails to state how many what position they hold. I bet it’s higher then the warehouse operative that knows my address..

Oh and then we have the fact these employees signed NDA’s but apparently spoke to Bloomberg.... yeah right!

What an utterly embarrassing over inflated article.

If you have a cell phone, a landline, a computer, a car with GPS, wireless speakers, a hair bow dryer (kidding), then you have one of "these" devices!
To some degree yes but the idea of someone listening everything that happens at your home is kind of scary.
It's true it is hard to "get away" these days, but you can minimize it.

How can this not be a political issue that is raised and debated more? It’s insane that people aren’t aware of this - That’s the case, right... don’t tell me that the majority of people know about this and just don’t give a f**k

Well, take that tin foil hat off for a while, does it state how many have access? No. Does it state what position they hold? No.
And I could not care less about someone working in he Alexa improvement team entering the geographical coordinates of my Dot into Google Maps!

This is one massive sad attempt to make a mountain out of nothing, not even a mole hill..

And I’d imagine as you do not have a high level overview of Amazons entire Alexa programme, I doubt very much you can tell me why they have access, and I doubt Amazon would bother giving access to staff if they didn’t need to...

Amazon does NOT constantly listen to everything you say, a fact they have repeatedly stated over and over again, you MUST say the keyword first, and you CAN turn this feature off with ease if desired.

But you lot paranoid about big brother Amazon watching you just carry on with your Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Wattsapp..

It’s amazing how stupid people can be. Let ME buy an expensive device to invade MY privacy... I use siri when I’m driving, but that’s it. I’d rather type this out that have Siri attempt to do it herself. Quicker and simpler that way.

The only way I’d buy a HomePod is if the price was lowered so I can buy a stereo pair. I don’t care for Siri, Alexa, Google, Bixbee

I have one in my living room. We rarely use it for anything other than a doorbell annunciator from our Ring. Once the Netatmo Doorbell camera gets released Alexa along with Ring will be going away and we are full on Apple HomeKit. I also want to purchase a HomePod as well to replace Alexa once this whole doorbell thing is sorted out.

I literally got into an argument with someone over dinner of a person who is always on Facebook for chastising me for owning an Alexa device. Our Echo is prominently in our living room.

I am not on Facebook by the way :D.

I told him the tin Foil is on sale at Safeway at the moment.

It is ludicrous isn’t it? Call Amazon and the stranger on the end of the phone has FULL access to your address and entire ordering history. Who cares! But oh no the Alexa technical team know my address too oh crap!!! That’s not on!!

People soon forget the endless laws and regulations these companies have to abide by, even more so the bigger ones as they are audited and have the most to lose.
My Echo Dot is one of the best devices I own, use it all the time. I’m just sad I live in the UK and we don’t have it control half as much as the US. But at least it supports Apple Music now.

I keep telling everyone to turn off Hey Siri and nobody believes me.
Well this article is about Alexa and not Siri. I don't know why someone would turn off Siri based on what Amazon is doing.

This article has absolutely nothing to do with Siri.

If you, hypothetically, murdered someone, and Amazon employees heard it, - for them to have your address would violate your constitutional rights, I guess? You'd be upset, at the very least.

In the US constitutional rights only apply to the government. A government agency can’t listen to what’s going on in your house without a court’s permission, Amazon can listen all they want. It’s your job to stop it if you object.

The odds of an unbalanced creeper working in this department are higher than reasonable. This is a nightmare waiting to happen (think boiled rabbits).

surprise! Company that collects user data is collecting more than we thought or cared to read about in the lengthy TOS! *shocking*
Surprise! Most of them don't give your home address and conversations with your children to random Joe Schlub from cubicle 2A.

This one is absolutely insane - did nobody at Amazon think "one of our contract employees might be a weirdo and start stalking someone based on their voice? maybe we shouldn't ALSO tell them exactly where that person is"

This is such an awful recipe for something to go wrong, what were they smoking...

Ring makes some great devices but knowing that they are now owned by Amazon (and they still haven't delievered on their HomeKit support promise) has turned me away.

If Amazon’s Ring and Alexa employees have this much access to sensitive private data, it makes you wonder how easy it would be for other organizations to have backdoor keys, too. All these “always listening” virtual assistants are low-hanging fruit for sweeping intelligence gathering.

You know that FB has certainly made some anonymous phone calls asking how they take care of customer's data ;)

Voice is just the start, what about video cameras making their way into homes.

They already are, with our phones and our computers. We now know because of Edward Snowden that even with our devices off, the spying agencies can turn them on at will.

Its not right but its a trade off to use the technology. Somebody will always have access to these devices whether its the corps or gov.

We choose to use these devices, we have to live with the consequences. Nobody forced us to use Alexa, iPhones, etc...

The saddest part are people who are actually surprised by these news, they simply have no idea.

I must say, some of these employees have been shockingly forthright about disclosing these privacy concerns. I am glad they have a conscience about it all and have acted on it by disclosing that this is going on.

You think that's bad? Remember when they used to publish that book with everyone's name and phone number in it and just mail to everyone in the entire city?

Seriously, get a grip people. Your basic information is not private.

Do you work for Amazon or something? Or is it just a reflexive defensive of an Apple competitor (because in your mind it’s impossible for MacRumors to have unbiased reporting on competitors)?

I wonder how they can send me orders if they don't have access to my address?
Employees working on Alexa are sending you orders?
