hum, didn't work for me. I used the backup extractor and changed the plist to the one provided and then restored my phone. Did I miss a step? there was no option for emoji under the japanese keyboard option.

edit--ok, I realize that I didn't put the updated files back into the backup, they were still in the folder I extracted them to. How do I get the new files into the backup?

can someone knowledgeable write up instructions for those of us who dont want to jailbreak and those of us that dont know squat about editing files and stuff? thanks

btw does this work for texting? if not, i dont see the point..

someone PLEASE post some instructions, i really wanna do this..

and since you said it works for sms, if i have emoji enabled on my iphone, but a friend who im sending a text to does not have emoji enabled..will it show the emoji that i send them?

i tried viewing this page on my ipod touch that does not have it enabled and it can see them just fine so i would think it would be ok

I'm pretty sure it will show up on their iphone as well, even if they don't have it turned on to send, it should still display them.

I'm waiting for a non-jailbreaking set of instructions as well. :)

im reading on another site that you have to copy and paste this...

bplist00Ö _KeyboardCapsLock_KeyboardLastUsed_KeyboardAutocorrection_KeyboardAutocapitalization_KeyboardLastChosen_UISuspendedSettings_KeyboardEmojiEverywhere_KeyboardPeriodShortcut UemojiÐ ,?XuŠ ºÓÔÚÜÝÞ

is this true? do i replace what is already there with that? or do i add it to whats already there..

and once i do this..will it automatically save it in the backup file?

next, how do i load the backup file on my iphone?

a lot of questions, please see if you can answer them

pretty cool but useless cuzz only iphone 2.2 owners can see them...

I re-jailbroke, installed the Emoji package from Cydia, enabled the Emoji keyboard in International Keyboard settings... poof, done.

I needed one more reason to JB, so this was it...

i dont want to jailbreak...i know its much easier that way, but i want to avoid it

im trying to find a program which will enable me to save the new .plist file onto the backup..

Great, now all this 19 year-old has to do is summon his ability to explain in a more simple English way on how to accomplish this.

as much as i am grateful to this kid, i ***** hate him for putting me through this!!!

Just to kill everyone's dreams: pretty sure this is impossible without a jailbreak.

From what I've read, modifying iTunes backups is no longer possible as they detect any modifications and refuse to restore that part of the backup.

okay i just jailbroke my iphone 3g for the first time for these damn emoji icons..i hope theyre worth it!!!!

enabled this on my iPhone... now the real question is... is it possible to enable Emoji characters on Leopard? :)

Jeez, Apple must really want us to JB our phones!

just saw this thread and now I can't wait until I get home to try this out. if I send a text to a friend with an iPhone, he needs to have 2.2 installed in order to properly display the emojis, right?
