ENRON Ken Lay found dead in Aspen CO

it was on the news this morning that he died of a heart attack, not suicide...

Wiki: Lay died at his home in Aspen, Colorado of a heart attack on July 5, 2006. According to Lay's pastor the cause was a "massive coronary".[3]

And it probably wasn't guilt.

It was the prospect of sharing a cell with bubba for the rest of his life....

True. He hardly came across as a man who demonstrated concern for others.

I never rejoice at a death, but some certainly bother me less than others. And some don't bother me at all.

Enron founder Kenneth Lay died early today in Aspen, Colorado, a family spokeswoman said. He was 64. In a statement, spokeswoman Kelly Kimberly said, "The Lays have a very large family with whom they need to communicate, and out of respect for the family we will release further details at a later time." Lay was awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of nine counts of fraud and conspiracy related to the collapse of Enron.

"Further details."

Heh.

I agree. The only thing that bugs me is that I was hoping that Kenny Boy would rot in prison for the rest of his years. I'm sure GWB would have pardoned him on his way out of office though.

It'll get removed soon. The comment "The guilt of ruining so many lives finaly led him to his suicide." won't last two minutes on wiki!

i cut and pasted that he died of a heart attack from Wiki.... if the suicide comment was there it is already gone...

Sounds a bit too simple. I bet he faked it. There going to bury a wax sculpture and Mr. Lay will live happily ever after on a small Island somewhere where the US can't extradite...

Kinda sounds like the end of season 1 of Arrested Development when George Bluth faked a heart attack to flee to Mexico. Maybe Lay is enjoying a Margarita in TJ right now?

Enron founder Ken Lay dies

CNN

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Enron founder Kenneth Lay died early Wednesday in Aspen, Colo., a family spokeswoman said.

Lay, 64, was awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of conspiracy and fraud in the Enron trial in May.

In a statement, spokeswoman Kelly Kimberly said, "The Lays have a very large family with whom they need to communicate, and out of respect for the family we will release further details at a later time."

A spokeswoman for Aspen Valley Hospital confirmed that Lay arrived at the hospital at 1:41 a.m. MT and was pronounced dead at 3:11 a.m. MT.

CNN affiliate KPRC in Houston said Lay was admitted to the hospital with a massive coronary.

In a statement, the Pitkin County Sheriff's office said a coroner's autopsy is pending and autopsy results will be available later this week.

I merged the threads and put them here for now; if it gets too political, someone report it and it'll get moved.

As a Christian, I am sure that some pretty heavy punishment awaits him in the next world.

(But I really wanted a chance to stick it to him in this one! )

I turned on the t.v. just as Barbara Walters announced his death on The View and she seemed extremely sad about it. Considering that he helped ruin thousands of lives and can be considered a criminal, her reaction really surprised me.
