Its just sad, sad that is that this didnt happen before he screwed all his employees and stock holders out of their $$$. Jesus said its easier to thread a camel through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to enter heaven.

I trust you are kidding. Because otherwise you're gonna have to justify that comment in some way.

I can't speak for "ham_man" but I think the gist of it is that Jesus probably wouldn't say something like "I really wanted a chance to stick it to him..." Not very forgiving. Whatever, Ken Lay deserves all the vilification/damnation/etc. he gets - on this plane or any other.

Now we just have to wait and see what will happen to Jeff Skilling. Maybe Cheney will have him disappeared.

Not Jesus. It was Peter who said that.

Edit: Nevermind. It depends on which version you're reading from.

Doesn't matter, elevating Enron to a religious debate is giving these people way too much credit.

They were simply scam artists, and not worthy of being elevated to supreme evil beings, just run of the mill white collar criminals.

Of course some of the white collar criminals do get away with amazing amounts of cash. Like the Rigas Family who sacked and pillaged their company for actual money.

Ahh, but are you hanging out with Biggie, Tupac, and Kennith Lay? And if you are, why are they in Michigan??

Luke 6.28 "...bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you."

Luke 6.37 "'Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven...'"

And to those who crucified him...

Luke 23.34 "Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.'"
I pray that Ken Lay made his peace before he passed.

Cooking books and destroying people's retirement funds aren't supremely evil? Huh? These guys destroyed lives.

It is kind of a sad story. Such a wasted life. The way he started out in life, he should have known better, but got caught up in the game. Not trying to justify his actions, stooge for higher powers or not, what he did was wrong and it ruined a lot of lives. But it's sad that someone with such promise fell so fast due to his own arrogance, ineptitude, and greed.

I can't say that I'm necessarily sad over his passing, but I try never to revel in the death of another person, no matter how despicable.

It reminds me of the lottery winners. So many have ended up in worse condition than prior to their winning anything.

Happens time and again.

A fast rising stock is a star, and employees want to become rich with all their eggs in one basket.

But companies crash all the times wiping out single stock retirement plans. Enron wasn't the first or last to wipe out the employee millionaires with this type of plan -- though it seems to happen a lot more often with the stock option millionaires.

A retirement fund built like Enrons is nothing but a supremely bad idea, even if it makes for some happy employees for 10-20 years.

Well, there was a suspicious death of another Enron exec four and a half years ago. It was officially and very quickly (in less than 24 hours) labeled a suicide, but there are a lot of questions and discrepancies.

Enr0wned? :D

I realize that real investigations are nothing like what we see on CSI, but this one sounds just a tad bit lax. Especially in such a high profile case. If you find a bum with no family dead on the street, I could see the police caring this little (not that they should, but I could at least understand it), but a dead witness in this media-circus case? Very odd...

Yeah, they can bury him next to Vince Foster. Sandy Burg(l)er can dig the grave.

Sure, "heart attack." Looks like GWB's buddy "Kenny-boy" might have been hushed-up by Cheney (aka The Silencer). :) I'm not one to make fun of the sadness his family must be feeling but Lay, Skilling, et al are truly evil human beings.

Enron - The Smartest Guys In The Room

Only have heard breif news on the impact of his death. Along the lines that he still had $8MUS worth of property. While he said that he had no assets. And my sister said she heard a news report that since sentencing was not given, the family may get to keep what was left.

I will wait for more detailed info, before passing any opinion on the outcome. Though given those on the Right that pointed to the Clinton Era "unexplained deaths", I can see some on the Left trying to paint this in a different light.

Are you refering to the posts implicating VP Mr D Cheney? that the left here was NOT pulling political interference but the right is? Now Chipster....
I firmly believe Vinny was taken out, and would have no surprise at all if Kenny was too.

I turned on the t.v. just as Barbara Walters announced his death on The View and she seemed extremely sad about it. Considering that he helped ruin thousands of lives and can be considered a criminal, her reaction really surprised me.

That is rather surprising- hopefully her sadness was only an act.

No, I am willing to wait out the details on the impact of the $8M US that Ken left behind to help his family, if sentencing is key in getting his ill gotten gains.

Since you asked, my takes on the Ken Lay death. The first is that his family may be able to keep those assets. There are drugs that can give the same results of a "heart attack". This is a total "leftist" view, I am trying to be more "centrist".

The other is that if Lay was dealt the extreme in prison time, he might have spoke from jail about the Administrations controlling of the energy policy in closed door meetings with the "Cheney meetings" (not under the "sunshine" principle that guides us as a nation - meaning that meetings, commissions, panels, and the such should be open to public inspection and debate - unless there is an under riding National Security issue involved).

In the end the timing of Lay's death causes me concern.
