What an embarrassment that this is actually a big deal. 🤦♂️

Yeah let's not pretend Apple is doing this to benefit the customer over profit, per se, otherwise they would've done it at least 5 years ago. Literally because of an external variable that recently showed up in the market (AI).Thank, Apple Intelligence. We couldn’t have done it without you.
(Literally)
How do you know that? And well over 80% of all Mac users will never utilize it. Well, maybe once. A few may run a benchmark.

It’s Mac-bro science!So, in effect, Mac's now start with 32 GB of Windows-equivalent RAM!
A centuryI wonder how long will the 16gb era last

I wouldn't invest in a 16GB Windows machine for anything but the simplest of uses (if you want a little future proofing).16GB on Mac = 32GB on PC
Nope. Just replace “8 gig” with a random different spec. The main reason I’m excited is that we can stop hearing the complaints online every time modern Mac’s are discussed.
It was for non AI workloads. Software has been pretty flat in requirements for some time. Only high end video, photo editing and data processing required more RAM.And people on here saying 8 is enough lol
I would prefer reasonable upgrade prices. 512gb is more than a lot of people need, and 512gb isn't enough for a lot of other people. Let us make our own choices Apple. I preordered a base model M4 Mac Mini... upgrading it was just not worth it, and 512gb isn't enough for me... so external storage it is.it’s a great day but now we need 512gb storage or more reasonable bto prices. ideally both because i want 24gb & 1tb
