Maybe after they fail Apple can buy Fortnite and now it’ll be an Apple exclusive.
The employees are paying for the smug attitude of the ceo. Epic made a boatload of money for 30%. Seems like a great deal…especially now that layoffs are happening.Let’s not pile on please

Pls do...Maybe after they fail Apple can buy Fortnite and now it’ll be an Apple exclusive.
I’d hope not. Fortnite is pretty aggressively monetized (you could even go as far as calling it predatory, and be pretty well justified), and the whole battle royale genre seems to be a genre that only works (or, could only be profitable) using a freemium model (in part because of the ongoing content updates that drive continued engagement). I don’t think you could get it to work in the Apple Arcade model, and the last thing we need is Apple getting info freemium games directly.Maybe after they fail they can buy Fortnite and now it’ll be an Apple exclusive.
Sounds like a future empty lotI wonder what this means for their new HQ they're building nearby me in Cary, NC? They bought a whole shopping mall to demolish and rebuild for a sprawling campus.
Agreed in most cases. For EPIC it seems they're being generous with vesting, but I don't think that employees own nearly any amount of this company so it might not be so generous after all.
I know, it's not their fault. I've been there before, so I can relate.Let’s not pile on please

This won't stop people from trying to tie and blame the layoffs on the Epic vs Apple case though. To be fair, there has been mass layoffs in the tech industry over the last year, with the gaming industry hit pretty hard.
While I am sure the legal issues have not helped Epic, they are not alone when it comes to layoffs.
5000% true. I do not understand Epic's endgame here, but I feel terribly for the affected employees.Let’s not pile on please

Not really sure why the CEO is still in his position if he's "spending way more money than we're making" at this point. Epic Games raked in BILLIONS in the early days of Fortnite and his hubris has absolutely destroyed that success. I agree with him that 30% is a steep fee to pay for App Store revenues, but I just don't know if mobile & Mac sales were really worth all that. At this point, people are losing their jobs just because he's a stubborn Ox.
I think Unreal Engine going away would put gaming as a whole years and years back until something else could replace it.Now, do the rest. Shut it down and go away.
