You are right. They will be forced to, and rightly so. No amount of money can convince the public opinion, it is a lost battle for apple. Epic will win in the end.
Good. I want them to open up the iPhone to third party stores and payment systems. I paid for my iPhone so I deserve everything that is on the iPhone.
The less than 1% that even care about this, let alone would install a 3rd party store, isn't going to rock the boat.
I couldn't care less abut Epic, but...of course Apple is a monopolist with it's app store.

In the early days of the App Store, I agree with Apple 100%. But now I think it's time for a new model. I believe Apple needs to let go of the old model and evolve. Put a new structure in place that lets them win in the marketplace organically, not by default.
You will be surprised. Wait until people start finding some apps only on alternative stores, or such store offer the same software at lower prices (no apple tax), or perhaps software with more capabilities (some apps are merged on the App Store because otherwise they’d violate apple’s policies), see for example a kindle app that can also buy books and not just read them, or apps with NSFW content…

I understand why you say so, and I could agree; but Spotify was the pioneer in music by demand (or at least, the most successful back then). Since it’s inception more than 15 years ago, Spotify has provided me lots of music and helped me discover a lot more. And just for that, they have my respect.
That being said, I’ll probably give a try to Apple Music soon, and I’m sure its interface and integration is superior to that of Spotify on iOS. But still, Spotify will always have a place in my memory and my heart.
Wont happen. They will not get enough users no matter what the app is. If the developer really wants the money they will stay in Apples App Store.
I still think iOS 17.0 will allow multiple app stores under the App Store app. You wonder would Epic Games, Amazon and a few other companies accept this idea.

Given my feelings about Sweeney this result feels like I’ve just won a lawsuit myself.
What someone like him fails to understand is that the world is neither fair nor equitable, and it never will be.
His disingenuous behavior towards making the App Store more “fair” further exposes how he’s only in it for himself. Kinda like many of the other “causes” that get exposed for what they really are: fair(er) for me but not for thee.
If he’d stop whining and find a way to make his company a winner rather than a loser, maybe he wouldn’t be so miserable, but instead he’s gotta force another company to bend over and take it (Apple). He can’t accept that he doesn’t have a good solution to his problem and he’s resorted to pointing fingers.
After reading his tweet that reeks of projection, I can only assume he was the nerd getting excluded from the popular lunch table, never figured out how to improve himself and he’s carried all that baggage into his company. Not a good way to run a company.

The kindle app can offer that now, it’s Amazon that is choosing not to offer the functionality. But the pieces are all there for Amazon to add that functionality.
