I understand your reasoning but you are the only person who has ever said to use this option to me. 99% of the people out there are not keeping sensitive info on their iphone just in case they lose it so I dont really believe this would ever be an issue. unless you work for apple and lose your new iphone in a bar.........

I would also say never use that option and unless you’re handing it to Apple to get a replacement. This feature has been known to seriously cause problems for phones that were jailbroken. Anyway, if you’re going to use the erase all feature, you’d better make sure you can restore it afterwards. I wouldn’t buy a phone that was just erased all and nothing else.

Well, then I am glad I am at least the first to give the proper information. :)

It's not keeping sensitive data, it's data that can be used for theft. Identity theft, real monetary theft, etc so this would always be an issue. :) Thieves want you to think your data is not work protecting, thus making their job easier.

Hmm, all my iPhones have been jailbroken and I've never had an issue with this. but for reasons above, I would Erase All Content and Settings and then restore a jailbroken or stock firmware of your choice. :)

True, that’s how it should work, but if you look through the forum threads, you’ll find plenty of people that had issues (most were jailbroken though).

Ive left the phone plugged in since im working now, but I feel it wont help since the phone has been out of power multiple times. I hope it works...

If you’re saying it’s out of the erase all and won’t boot, then you need to restore in DFU mode. You may have to try MANY times.

No dice. Just gonna give it back to the girl and see what she can do. Ive tried :(.

Thanks for all the help guys!
