I have a hard drive with one partition on it named 'WINDOWS' I have it formatted as FAT and Master Boot Record.

When trying to restore it with a Windows 7 iso it says restore process has failed and I get this from the 'More details' section in Disk Utility

    Validating target...
    Validating source...
Could not validate source - Invalid argument
    Operation failed…

Somewhere in the menus of Disk Utility is the option to 'Scan disk image for Restore'

I can't remember where off-hand but it's there. Run that on the source image first.
