Just got a little note from Amazon. They would like to sell me an Australian roasted coffee, for the same number of US Dollars ($47USD) as I can buy it for in the shop in Australian Dollars ($47AUD). That's only a 60% increase.

Yea, I generally order 3 different types, 1 that I know I appreciate and 2 new ones.
Usually go for 1/4 of a kilo bags so they stay fresh but never open 3 bags at the same time.
Have been thinking about getting more vacuum sealed canisters (using fellow atmos now) so that I can test them more side by side.
Best coffee I have had so far is from Costa Rica and that was a gift from someone that had been visiting the place.
I have found the beans but they don't ship to Sweden. Maybe that’s a great excuse to actually visit the place 🙂

An afternoon coffee -a blend (of my own devising of three coffees from El Salvador) - served with organic hot milk, is going down wonderfully well on this filthy, freezing, overcast, Sunday afternoon.

A clean machine….doesn't hurt either.
Did both the cleaning and the descaling on my machine today.
To clean it I get a turned-on-lamp, the descaling has no reminder.
But I figured it can't be a bad thing, as I can't remember when I exactly did it. But it's not needed very often, but also depending on how much espresso are made on it.
I do recall pretty much how often I did it on my fully-automatics earlier, that did had the function to report its need for descaling.
All done and the Espresso I had a few hrs ago was great.

And it's so very easy to forget or just let it slide. I'm always saying, "I'll do it later." But, as you note, it's important.

My goodness, my espresso is wonderful this morning! I had to wait to make it because my wife was cooking and splattering cooking oil all over Silvia (expected behavior since she's quite jealous of the other woman). The wait had me craving the coffee so it's more delicious.

The cold spell has meant that I have now run out of both milk and bread (a deficiency that I intend to remedy tomorrow).
I have not, as it happens, run out of coffee - in fact, I am amply supplied with coffee at the moment.
Which begs the question (rhetorical) of just why do I find myself - on this frigid, freezing night in January - perusing (with an air of utter absorption) coffee websites?

Enjoyed a washed processed light roast today. It was light bodied with fairly high acidity. Beautiful to me as I am trending away from full bodied coffees I think. We will see how long that lasts.

Milk (organic, etc) purchased, (as was bread in an excellent bakery) - a swift dash into the city, once the ice had thawed sufficiently (if temporarily) to make venturing out from the house less of a risk; and now, I am back home, sipping a splendid mug of coffee from El Salvador.

Just bought a funnel for my coffee machine portafilter.
For the last 10yrs I've been using a Gagia Classic with an Ibertital grinder which makes lovely coffee, however the grinder does tend to spit coffee all over kitchen worktop if I'm not careful. I've put up with this for 10 years but I recently discovered you can get funnels for the portafilter to prevent this, so I ordered one from Amazon.
It holds in place with magnets and has a lip that sits on the outside of my portafilter so that I can still get my tamper in there with the funnel still in position, then just lifts off. Works a treat..

Currently trying coffee from a new supplier.
I generally always make lattes and then sometimes add vanilla syrup, this obviously masks the flavour of the beans so I'm not usually precious of which beans I use, so I tend to buy blends rather than single origin as I probably wont appreciate their full flavour.
This one is quite a bit stronger than the Rave Signature blend I normally use, but I'm happy with it.

A funnel came with my single dose grinder and it really comes in handy. The grinder produces a fluffy mound that overflows the top of the portafilter until I tap the portafilter on the tapping mat which brings the espresso level down. The funnel makes it easy to use WDT and lightly brush off any static since I rarely use RDT. After a quick tap that brings down the coffee level I take off the funnel and can tamp.
My funnel doesn't have magnets, there is a small indented rim that fits inside the portafilter. That would make tamping with the funnel difficult I would think but I never needed to do that even before I started using a leveling tamper that wouldn't work with either style. The magnets are a nice touch. Sometimes I'll bump the funnel a little and some grounds sneak under.

Funnels are a great idea.
The first funnel I orded fitted with a rim to the inside of the portafilter like yours, which meant my tamper wouldn't fit inside, so when removing the funnel lots of the coffee would spill out. That's why I then found the funnel I have now, which has that rim on the outside of the portafilter so that it doesn't obstruct my tamper.
