Here's the type's and sorts of Barista Syrup's I use.
Not sure I have a favourite - they're all good. Wouldn't say they give any overly taste, so I like it.

I'm personally not a big fan of flavored coffee. The only exceptions may be a Peppermint Mocha or an Eggnog Latté during the holiday season, but for regular drip coffee, I want to taste the beans and the roast.

We were looking at Torani recently and were put off by all the artificial ingredients. We got some sample sized bottles of Monin in case anyone wants Irish Cream flavoring in their hot cocoa. The ingredients are fine.

Neither am I, to be honest.

I want my coffee to taste of coffee, not additives or flavourings.

I get it, pure is best.
I’ve been a straight coffee drinker from my machine since I got them.

When I worked I’d get k-cup with some flavor.

Enjoying the flavored bean, but now when this hopper is out back to straight goodness for a while.

Wow, that's a lot of beans, but shopping at Amazon has its benefits, as you know your shopping story very well.
I don't think I've bought much beans there myself however.
It's so many places here that sells beans, and we have an app in Sweden that's called Price-hunt, directly translated so when I’m shopping for new beans it’s a combination of what I know I like, testing something new, and what’s on good price at the moment.

I have bought Lavazza fot quite some time too, it’s a very solid brand, with so many variations.
But it has gone down a large variety of beans since I got my first Espresso-machine way way back.
Any beans with any type of Espresso-machine is better than coffee though in my reality
We call coffee 'dishwater' here 😏
But I have a French-press that comes to use when I’ve been between Espresso-machines or some trouble occurred. It goes down, but no thank-you as long as there’s Espresso machines.

Espresso-shops can be inspiring. I mostly visit the out-doors kind, in the summer.

You should definitely try it how I would call “Eastern European style”, historically tho it is still Turkish coffee. But it is also brewed like that in Greece, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine.

By far it is 1000x better than any french press can get. It is like comparing elite grape whiskey and some cheap wine, more concentrated goodness out of the bean and can get very similar to espresso when brewed right

Ahhhh, had this when I was in Istanbul last year, flippin good. Have tried to make it at home with the proper kit and superfine grind coffee, but its tricky.

Its going to be a rough morning - not sure I can make it truth be told. Please pray for me.

My coffee maker stopped working, she was baby, torn from my bosom only after a year of faithful service. I'm freaking out

I'm tearing apart my camping storage to find any instant cofffee.

May God have mercy on my soul

I am sorry for you. I wanted to post the laughing emoji but then thought better of it - this sucks. Seriously though only a year? Is the guarantee still active?

I'm over a year enough to lose the warranty. I'm actually quite upset it only lasted a year it was a Calphalon Coffee Maker. It gave me 3 beeps twice. Tried hitting the button again and the same thing. Google said unplug for a 5 minutes and try again. Did that, now it won't even turn on

Don't worry about laughing, it I'm not going to laugh, I'll be crying.

I found my camping coffee, so I stopped hyperventilating.

In my experience, you have to either buy the coffee pre-ground (usually from Turkish shops around here), or have the beans ground by someone who knows it has to be ground into powder.

Love me that "Ottoman" coffee - it is tricky and in Greece and probably other places (I am of Greek origin myself) relatives like my yiayia (grandma) would read you future in the grinds left in the bottom of your cup.

My Dad does that still. We turn the finished cup upside-down for a minute or so (over a saucer, obviously), then turn it back up and look for patterns in the dregs left around the sides of the cup. And then invent interesting stories about them relating to our fictional futures 😁

Condolences. I am sorry for your loss.

With that said, any recommendations for a drip coffee maker? I can buy a cheap 20 dollar version at target and treat is a consumable, i.e., won't last long, or I can buy a good one with the expectation that will. I had bought Calphalon with that in mind, but obviously I'll not be buying that again

Sorry about your situation. Some people look to a particular certification:

You'll find the Moccamaster brewers in their list.

I bought a Moccamaster last year and it makes very good coffee fast. No fancy features, not even a clock, just the way I like it. I am an espresso drinker and store my Moccamaster unless entertaining a larger group. Nothing worse than getting stuck pulling a high number of espresso shots.

If you are in the USA, this is a great time to buy one. Amazon is already offering Black Friday sales on almost all Moccamaster models and I assume other brands are on sale as well. I picked up a drip specific grinder at the same time, also on sale. Fresh ground quality beans are just as important if not more so than the coffee maker.

I actually found an old very dusty Bialetti recently here - can’t recall when I last used it though.
I left it where it was though. But I recall it made fairly ok coffee.
Isn’t it great how many ways there are in our world to transform those little coffee-beans into something great to drink and enjoy?
I’ve even heard of people who grow their own coffee-plants to start with.
Totally overkill for me though 😉

Sipping on a late but great espresso here at the moment.

recommendations for a drip coffee maker

I recently replaced a Bodum drip maker I used for about a decade with the Oxo mentioned in this review:

Note that the review also discusses two Moccamaster models.

I like the Oxo. Whenever I shop for drip makers, the main features I look for are:
  • Metal carafe
  • Raises water to a high temperature
  • Cone-shaped filter holder
A bonus for me with the Oxo is that the water flow follows an on/off cycle, rather than continuously running once it starts. This means blooming of the grounds and making full carafes have less chance of causing overflows from the filter cone. And as usual for Oxo, there are a lot of thoughtful design elements that increase convenience and ease of use.

My condolences, but this is why you have backups of your backups.

I have, ready to go, a Moka pot as well as an Aeropress.
And a hand grinder if the grinder decides to kark it in sympathy.

Bought a new 150 ml size Avanti moka pot, because I wanted to make a single cup of coffee when my beloved is taking tea.

First cup was a disaster, far too strong.
Second cup was a disaster, tipped over in the sink when cooling it down after making the coffee.

Third cup - heaven in a cup. A gold elephant sticky to me.
