Well I hardly do it, but applied the “24hr coffee rule” just now.

Day 4 of 4 Snow skiing in Colorado, this is my morning start.. but made too much yesterday and the hotel room complimentary bag of decent Lavazza ran out.
60 seconds microwave.. caffeine

Now we’re off to the mountains again

Reheating coffee? Brave soul.

Enjoyed my first outdoor coffee of the year; an exquisite espresso macchiato, served at an outside cafe, where I was sat overlooking a rather well known river, while admiring the decorative parliament building which was directly across from me.

The countries that comprised the lands of the former Habsburg Empire (Austria stretching to the Balkans) really "get" coffee, are places where you will almost invariably find great coffee, - after all, this was the region from which coffee was introduced to Europe - and they serve some simply superb coffee.

My machine got a nice descaling today, and a cleaning a few days ago.
Almost forgot that I have to descale, off and on.
This Sage machine doesn’t tell me as the old Siemens Automatics I had earlier did.
But we have pretty soft water here so that’s good for such machines, and great to drink too.

Not much difference in taste after the descaling, that I feel in my espresso today from yesterday though.
Also still at the great Mountain Grown beans.
But soon it will taste different....it was some time ago I had that strong robusta espresso

But it’s good to shift to keep the tastebuds awake 😆

Just saying, I have to take that bag in small portions....if at all?
It was heavy 😱

See what I will do? - will mix up what I at least have in the hopper with some nice Arabica beans, so I can drink it and still keep my head on the shoulders.
The rest of the bag, have an uncertain destiny, for now 😂

Heavy, like too strong ?
Possibly gift it to a friend who’s into strong beans
10 years ago I was, dialed it back .

Yes, very strong. I took out most of the beans that were in the hopper, and filled up with nice Arabica beans.
So tomorrow I’ll be ok.

I got that bag for free, so nothing lost - we’ll see what the density of those beans will be?

In a gorgeous (Art Nouveau) cafe in a city centre in a country somewhere in central Europe, - a place that serves the most divine coffee (and cakes) - I was shown a stunning (almost ancient) coffee machine (kept under glass) which the staff informed me was approximately 70-80 years old - an exquisite thing that had been made by a company that went by the name of Herandi, of which no trace could be found when I subsequently searched online.

The front of the machine looked reasonably familiar to the modern eye, the knobs, dials, drip tray, and portafilters, were all in place more or less where one would expect to find them; however, the sides and back - rear - of the machine (and it was not unlike a La Marzocco in size, dimensions, elegance and quality of construction materials) took the form of the most amazing porcelain......it was simply exquisite, absolutely gorgeous.

My driver had strongly suggested the place - his mother (whose favourite haunt it is) had recommended it, - with the observation: "You like coffee, you like history - you must see this."

The coffee machine (a Saeco) in my hotel was not functioning this morning (I hesitate to write that it was broken, not least because I don't think that it was).

However, I am in a city - and am based in, am living in, a small hotel in the very centre of this city - is replete with many amazing coffee shops, - the very definition of that glorious coffee culture of central Europe - and I do not expect to be denied coffee for very much longer today.

Exhales happily: Here, in what used to be referred to as "mitteleuropa", the coffee and the cakes and the cafes are all quite simply utterly wonderful.

Made an order of: 2 x 500g of the Lavazza Qualitá Mountain Grown beams. Not so easy to find, that's not being overpriced and within a decent delivery time.
So, happy to found some - I only had 1 500g bag left, so thank you Denmark 🥳

Right now, I'm consuming of the White Lavazza Oro.

While today did not furnish many examples of seriously good espresso, I must say that I enjoyed - nay, greatly savoured - several exceedingly good espressos (and not a few espresso macchiatos) over the past week.

These days it's just a double espresso added to bit of hot water. I'm limiting myself to having it once a day.

I time and weigh the pulls. If I get it right I definitely can tell the difference in the taste; it's not subtle. When I used to add some milk it wasn't as noticeable.
