It’s just an example. The point is customers will not know “Let Meta display my notifications on my sunglasses” will lead to additional tracking. And I suspect the EU won’t let Apple tell them.The EU already has protections against the collection or use of health related data for tracking (and many other protected types). Tracking works differently in the EU by law, even when you give your consent.
And this is all besides the original point - the EU shouldn’t be forcing Apple to give away access to its translation technology to Apple’s competitors. It’s a bad law that when taken to its logical conclusion will absolutely chill innovation and reduce consumer choice, and already is doing so.
Remember, if Apple loaded iPhones with Android it’d be 100% DMA compliant and consumers would lose all choice and competition. But sure, the law “encourages completion”.
