It’s less that Siri got integrated into the OS, and more that they rebuild the entire file structure and let Siri access it like spotlight on crack. The bigger issue is, that Android and iPhone are both good and awful in their own ways. Also, I really dislike Apple's plan to deeply "integrate" Siri AI into the OS. Just build APIs and make it an optional app.
That’s why extended indexing takes place even in iPhones that don’t support Apple Intelligence.
And yeah, by that logic they could just offer an API, but then again I trust Apple the most with an on-device assistant that knows about every email, every text message, every contact, every app, every file, every note, every calendar event, every PHOTO, every VIDEO and basically everything else.
If this data can be handled with security privacy in mind, Apple is currently the only contender to attempt to deliver.
How safe and secure the data is handled is still to be fully determined, but so far it seems Apple's claims have been mostly independently verified, and Apple certainly should be able to offer an API, but I don’t expect, well, third party solutions to be as reliable or secure. And I don’t know why you do.
