Some people still don't understand Apple at all. On that page, one guy says:

If this becomes anywhere near as popular as Evasi0n for iOS 6.1 (over 7 million downloads in its first few days), Apple will have not simply lost control of the platform to a bunch of power users, but to a well-funded entity with unclear motives.

Apple doesn't really care if you jailbreak your own device. It's your device, your choice. Apple is going to close any security holes that have been exploited by the jailbreak in order to improve security of iOS, not to stop the jailbreak. Two different motivations. With jailbreaking comes its own bag of problems (and freedoms), so it's a use-at-your-own-risk situation.

Apple keeps a tight ship with iOS in order to deliver a consistent, predictable and pleasant experience for their customers out of the box. Contrast that to the Android experience where every phone vendor may customize the experience so there's no consistency or predictability across the vast array of Android devices.

I've started compiling an iPad 3 & iPhone 5-specific JB compatibility list:

Oh please, spare us with the Apple ad speech... there is a reason for us power users jailbreaking: Apple's seriously behind not only their Android / Windows competition, but even the JB developers. Where is the absolutely essential f.lux, for example, in the official iOS?

This jailbreak supports both iOS 7.1 betas.

Betas is the keyword here. As opposed to the final version - or even later betas....

This news is sooo late that it angers me. I will look for another mac rumors website. I am so mad right now. This should be embarrassing.

Here is the problem with the beta's as I see it and could be wrong. JB is out Apple will patch it in 7.0.5 and make the 7.0.4 keys unavailable. So if your on the beta you will not be able to restore back to 7.0.4. So if your on 7.1 beta I would think your best bet is to restore back to 7.0.4 and stay there as JB for future iOS will take a long time if ever.

I stopped following the evad3rs guys when they constantly posted spammy type messages implying the jailbreak was released only to find that there was nothing released yet. I'll wait.

Just to inform you all; I did track my iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1 B2 after jailbreaking to see if the English version is loaded with that Chinese bloat. Used known programs such as fiddler & wireshark. Sniffed traffic for one hour and never saw the iPhone connect or send data to any Chinese server or site. Did check extra carefully during cydia startup, and refresh of packages. Did look if it send something after a restart and nada, did just connect to iTunes. Up to each and own now, nothing really works so I guess there is no problem with laying low.

IMO, jail breaking is pretty pointless now. Only two reasons I would jailbreak are for quick reply and XBMC.

After doing a lot of reading up on this, there is a ton of misinformation running around.

TaiG is only installed if your native language is Chinese.

None of our data is being uploaded or shared to a Chinese server.

The cracked apps thing was being dealt with and will not be installed on your phone if your native language is not Chinese.

I read elsewhere that it installs no matter what, but only is displayed if your language is set to Chinese. I'm not sure which is true though.

No Chinese app store for me. Removed the jailbreak immediately when I hear about this.

I think everyone should be very careful with this jail break.

Jailbreaking always just seems to lead to more hassle than it's worth. Also I think its sad they rushed giving away an exploit before 7.1 giving Apple time to fix it even for next beta... And all cos the devs sold out for $$$

Little late aren't we? :D

Jailbroke my iPhone 5s with no problems, but many tweaks don't work yet.

I did as well, only to find my favorite tweak, Auxo, isn't compatible yet with iOS 7.

Edit: I restored to factory default after finding out about the Chinese Connection. Call me prejudice or whatever, but I just don't trust the Chinese.

You mentioned the iPhone 5c twice.

I may give it a shot when someone tweaks Control Centre and allows me to add a Mobile Data and LTE toggle.

Other than that, a jailbreak is pretty much pointless with iOS 7.

You mean the Jailbreak with $1,000,000 in sponsorship dollars from a Chinese company that injects malware into your iPhone with an App Store for cracked apps called TaiG that does an "E.T. Phone Home" of your private data to a Chinese server? Sounds awesome!

Add in the slimy response from evasi0n at

"Dear Jailbreak Community,

We are deeply troubled by the rumors and speculation surrounding our iOS 7 jailbreak. We would like to present the whole story to you.

Most of the concern surrounds the inclusion of the Chinese App Store Taig. In the course of developing the iOS 7 jailbreak, we were approached by the company with an offer of partnership in offering Taig bundled with the jailbreak in China. Taig is a Chinese App Store written in Chinese. tailored and, we believe, well suited to meet the needs of users for the Chinese market. Users are not locked into Taig. Cydia can also be installed and Taig removed afterwards. It would be deeply hypocritical to remove choice from the user in the course of jailbreaking.

..."

Translation:

We are deeply troubled that we were caught not telling users the full story about us selling out to a Chinese pirate site. We put in an air-tight clause in our $1,000,000 sell out that said the pirate site shouldn't contain pirated software but we really don't have a way to enforce it.

We believe that, as dedicated software developers, we should be paid handsomely as should developers of 99 cent apps even though we are providing a way for software theft in China and may also be providing a way for the Chinese pirate site to track your personal information (hey there are no guarantees in life right?).

We had to release an incomplete jailbreak as one of the team members (Saurik) was on to the Chinese pirate site and we really wanted the $1,000,000 that we deserve so we had to release the jailbreak before the cat got out of the bag. After all, $1,000,000 is a lot of money.

We hope you don't look too deep into our jailbreak and continue to keep it free to unsuspecting users as we sell out to pirate sites.

Thanks for your support,

evadErs

Dont do it guys, other than that chinese app collect your data, who know what they install other than the app that u see

I too would have released early for $1,000,000. I don't blame the guys for doing it one bit.

Do us all a favor and sell your iPhone if you don't like the stock OS. Better yet , spend millions and develop your own. Jail breaks are security risk and battery killers. Don't do it.
