Makes me wonder how many exploits they blew through to get this done and how many if any are left. I guess there is still hope but I doubt it. They should have waited until after 7.1 that's what makes me mad.

You know a million dollars is not a lot of money these days.

Nothing to scoff at though. I don't know how many people are apart of the evad3rs team, but I'm sure it'll basically be each of their salaries for 2014. Probably around the 6 figure mark each. Not a bad way to start off the year.

Do us all a favor and sell your iPhone if you don't like the stock OS. Better yet , spend millions and develop your own. Jail breaks are security risk and battery killers. Don't do it.

They are, but I have fond memories of jailbreaking. Tap Tap Revolution and Brushes launched on the original Installer and that was months and months before the App Store launched. I also remember paying for an app so I could "add" a video function to my iPhone 2G's camera. Plus, we had SummerBoard, the only way we could even set a wallpaper until iOS 4.

I mostly do it now because I like having more icons on my home screen and removing the "iPod/iPhone/iPad" next to the Wifi and putting something different. That's pretty much it these days.

Bricked

Can a jailbreak release possibly be more dramatic than this one?

Worked fine at the start on a 5s. It has Cydia. But nothing works with it. AppCake, AppSync, nothing. As soon as another app tries to connect to the phone, like iLike or iFunBox, it bricks. Then its a DFU full restore.

Nice try.

...next!

Installed it.

Installed MyWi because I'm a grandfathered AT&T prisoner.

Put phone back in pocket.

Can't imagine what else I would possibly install.

10/10 – Wouldn't have bothered if I was any less bored.

Oh great. Now 7.1 final release won't be jailbroken because these guys just threw away an exploit in a rush to be "first."

Not necessary: Apple's iOs development cycle isn't that easy to alter, should they have found any exploits relying to the very deeps of the system.

"Cydia administrator Jay Freeman has also revealed on his Twitter that Evasi0n installs a third party "app store" named Taig for cracked apps in China. Furthermore, two tweets by developer i0n1c (via Y Combinator) state that a Chinese company paid the Evad3rs development team a rumored $1 million dollars to release the jailbreak in order to force the Taig app store onto devices."

And people here have the nerve to complain about malware and viruses on Android. Your jailbreaking heroes have sold out to the communist for a cool million. Now Apple has no choice but to patch this up for the safety of it's users.

Frankly it's really really easy for Apple to plug exploits. All they do is get a copy of the program and run it and voila they get full closure on what exploits were used. 7.1 is probably a month away from release at the very least. I hope you're right but I'm thinking they'll have enough time to plug it.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!! I can finally get rid of this shiitt iOS7 design

And probably end up with something like this.....
People now days...

And how are they security risk and battery killers? They actually make you device more secure because you can install something that can block an exploit right away before apple can as well as it shows apple where more holes are. And again how are they battery killers?

Yes, people have mentioned malware and viruses affecting OFFICIAL android software releases.

And yes, Apple will patch software vulnerabilities for the safety of their users. In other news, water is wet.

Jailbreak fails on iPad 2!

Did a restore of my iPad 2 WiFi and set it up as new device.
evasi0n failed and it is now in an indefinite boot loop.

Guess we have to wait for a fix...

You and others whining have an option not to use it. Easy peasy.

I am not going to use it as while I support jail breaking I do not support piracy or their underhanded tactic to load Chinese malware on to unsuspecting users' devices.

i'll wait maybe a month until cydia apps will be updated, so i'll still use 6.1. can i download 7.0.4 now and update later, even if a newer (not jailbreakable) ios will be released???
